Just saw this. I really need to visit the board more often. Goes in phases. We're more or less out of the way. Yes in that we are in the middle of Montana, about a half hour from Glacier National Park and right on a massive lake. Not out of the way in that we're just outside of town. But its a wonde...

Yeah,
With color, the cameras are quite different. Did a white balance before and still ended up with some color differences. Basically had a couple of borrowed cameras. One a cheap sony and the other an ok Panasonic.

My big goal next round is to do a better job with lighting.

I use the mix wizard a lot for live stuff, we have one for our church, which is a mobile setup. Simple enough, Rack mountable. Tonality I'd take it over a lot of boards in that price point. I've only used it for live, but if you have some decent converters I'd say it would probably be a better optio...

One good cheap ish option is ebaying an AKG solid tube.

Good tube cardioid, I'll use them as overheads fairly often. Also great on a variety of other applications.

Thank you guys so very very much. Yeah, lighting has been one of the biggest feedback points so far, We had a couple of soft boxes up but I, in hindsight, could have placed them better. Also it was suggested several times to get the ambient light down quite a bit. Odd note.. Never even crossed my mi...

Proof of concept live in studio. -link now up

Hey Tape oppers, Did a proof of concept live video in the studio a couple months ago. Fairly rudimentary but I would love to expand on this. https://vimeo.com/134676461 Have a list the size of my arm for the video end. Different lighting, some shoulder mounts for camera, cheap jib, etc. Was my two c...

Timing Drums: oh... 3 Typically my "timing" fixes on drums are replacing or moving a bad hit around, assuming the drums were done remotely in time.. I usually time the other instruments if needed.(Most often Bass) Vocals.. maybe a 4. If I'm tracking its just a bit of love so we can be "Industry stan...

I'll play as well.

Facebook hasn't built a lot of business, but it has generated some. As for most people getting a studio started, business is more about word of mouth. I will embrace anything that helps me get more people talking about it.

Hi Matt, I am in the same boar actually. I just installed a Ghost at my studio on Sunday this week and am still unsure on what levels to run at. So anyone with advice feel free to chime in. Still working on what I want to do for workflow. So far, when I was calibrating my oputputs from pro tools int...

The SM7 is one of the best sub $1000 ever. I absolutely live mine. Never thought to try it on hats. I should give that a go. Lately its been my go to on vocals if I'm recording other things in the room. We had a VMP-2 in the studio I used to work at. Never got a chance to play with it though. Have h...

Yeah, me and him (the owner) sorted out the liability end a while ago.
Think I have things sorted. Got a local agency with a good rep giving me some decent pricing. If that doesn't work out I'll go with the MusicPro guys.

Thanks for bringing them up. Had never heard of them before.
