Funny I stumbled on this just now. I literally just posted on my blog about downloadable multi-tracks:

Mike, I don't know what your background in mixing is, but I can't recommend highly enough that you first learn how to mix thoroughly with the stock plug-ins that come with Logic. Like most DAWs, the stock plug-ins are really high quality. Once you hit your limits with the stock plug-ins (that is, yo...

While I'm definitely not as anti-midi as some (see this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_VRUQnsW-0 - pay attention to the strings starting about 1:50) there are some improvements you can make to this clip. As for the writing and arranging, I really like what you have going. Probably the bigg...

Similar issues - similar results

I picked up some of the monoprice xlr cables and one set of headphones based on the TapeOp reviews. I've been satisfied with the headphones, and the cables worked just fine the first several times I used them. I don't record often - less than once per month. The most recent session I noticed that on...

Hey, getreel - where did you pick those up? A cursory Google search makes them look like out of production and unavailable.

Thanks - I'm in the market for a pair of mixing headphones.

Stereo Widener VST Shootout

Hey, all, I lurk a lot without posting much, but here is a free Stereo Widener VST shootout that I put together. http://www.allthingsnewministries.org/blog/2012/12/24/stereo-widening-vst-shootout/ I shot out the following wideners: Blue Cat Widening Gain Voxengo MSED and Stereo Touch Jeroen Breebaar...

Recorded my first CD on that! Good friend made some great recordings with it before upgrading to Sonar.

Take it a step further and move up to a Zoom R16. It can record 8 tracks of 24/44.1 audio simultaneously, providing switchable phantom power on two of the inputs, and has two onboard mics as well. You can overdub a further 8 tracks over the first 8. Via USB you can download all the tracks to a compu...

I was just recommended today by some folks in the business that you can't go wrong with a C414 and a Royer ribbon. You can pretty much mic everything in the world wonderfully with that combination.

DP?

The guy who mixed my live album used Digital Performer. I was amazed watching him work - everything seemed to logical and easy. I'm a Sonar user because I'm on PC, but if money wasn't an object, I would go mac and DP in a heartbeat. I know several DP users and none of them have any complaints.

My favorite thing about Pianoverb is that there are no initial reflections, just tail. Worked perfrectly for a piece I did a while ago where I wanted the keyboard to fade into the distance.

You know, I was actually thinking about writing in about this same thing. Reading in the most recent issue, the interview with fascinating Homes brothers, I turned the page and what did I see, but another shot of them standing OUTSIDE of their studio! I immediately started wondering what the INSIDE ...

How is Sonar? I never hear much about it, other than Andy Hung is using it, right? For some reason Sonar seems to fly under the radar on most forums. Craig Anderton is a fan, and it's the most used by the Garritan folk over on Northernsounds. As for my experience, mixed. It seems like every MIDI pr...
