Can you use the unit as a compressor only? Could one bypass the preamp entirely? I'd sure like to be able to use other pres with the compressor. You asked two questions. I updated as soon as I discovered it was free! Updated to OS 10.4.11 and updated i-Tunes to 8. But I don't know if it fixed anything. No, as mentioned in the original post, if he had supplied an OS disk I would have simply re-intalled. But I think he was afraid Apple would come get him.

I don't know what the previous owner did. He was a squirrely guy who seemed paranoid about me accidentally getting any of his software. I wouldn't be surprised if he deleted something I need. But whatever I need, I don't know what it is called, so I don't know if it is missing.
