Need powered monitors

Hi,

I need a set of powered monitors. I'm ideally looking for Equator D5's or something of comparable size. Not looking to spend more than $300, possibly a little more if you've got something totally amazing. Thanks!

Some questions for the computer savvy among you...

Hi All, Been many moons since I've been on the board, but I thought it was the best place to ask these questions. My ancient Imac G5 2.16 Intel machine is starting to waver. It will still play discs but refused to burn any. I looked up the error I was getting when trying to burn discs and it looks l...

think i figured it out

So, I copied all the sound files into a new folder and built a completely new session with them. Then I re-recorded the same part on two new tracks just to make sure everything was working. I got perfect levels going in and the recorded signal was exactly what went it. I saved and closed the sesssio...

Are you looking at the protools meters for both the recording level and the playback level? Is there a trim control on the tracks? These are just the first things that popped into my head. It's easy to overlook simple things when you are troubleshooting. Thanks. I am looking at the meters for both,...

thanks

I know about the waveform tool, but what I'm saying is, the sound is hot on the meters and very low once it's in recorded form. I wish it was just a case of making the waveforms larger with the tool. It's a weird problem I know.

Signal level vs. recorded levels in ProTools way off

I've got what (to me at least) is a real stumper. I've been working on a new record, and just overdubbed one last guitar part, but for some reason the recorded level is much lower than the level going into PT. In other words, I got a decent level going in, and then once I've recorded the sound, it's...

this sucks

I hate to hear this. My wife is a huge fan of his first record, and I remember hearing it and wondering what it was. It's pretty amazing stuff. It's too bad he wasn't able to make more of a go of it as an artist?it's certainly not a lack of talent! I hope he is at peace and hope his family comes thr...

+1 to what donny said. As a singer/songwriter and bandleader it is a wonderful thing to have a right hand man who you can bounce stuff off. It's great too if that person is interested in arranging and engineering. In so many cases two heads are better than one, and if you don't mind helping someone ...

protools output distortion

Hi All, Last night I was getting ready to do some overdubbing on some tracks I'm working on for my band's new record. I had listened on my monitors, and plugged everything in, guitar into DI, DI was already plugged into my 7th Circle N72, and into my Digi002 from there. I've been using this setup co...

blue mikey

Has anyone tried this thing?

I'm thinking of ordering one just for capturing song ideas. If anyone has any firsthand experience I'd love to know about it. Thanks!

I saw a copy of Tape Op (the recent issue with John Keane) at Universal News on 14th Street in Manhattan between Fifth and Sixth Avenue. Hadn't seen it in a store in years. Thought someone might like to know.

anestesia

I thought Erykah Badu's stuff was just funny...I didn't think it was all that caustic, but then again maybe I'm just anesthetized to the black humor that is the music business. And yes, Branford was great! Hell, I thought even Dave Matthews was pretty good. Overall, the film really spells it out to ...
