Re: Recording drum machines!
another thing to try is mixing in some real percussion with the drum machine palette to massage the sounds together. a little tamborine or maracas is the teaspoon of sugar to help the robotic hi-hat go down.

Re: Available: Tuba Player Location: Oshkosh WI
hey,

i don't know exactly how, what or why, but
on some future song(s), some tuba might be just the thing.
it may be a lot of fun. who knows.
drop a line if interested in talking more.

Re: Didn't Mercury Rev Record on Film?
The stuff is called mag stock (for magnetic stock) and was used to sync sound to picture during editing of motion pictures. Essentially, it is magnetic tape which has been backed with 35mm (or 16mm) film -- but, there is no image associated with magstock. The audio from the production set was record...

Re: Garageband & the TapeOp ethos
i had to chime in for garageband as well . . . for the last few years i've been recording mainly with a tascam 388 1/4" 8 track and a roland vs-880ex. and although i love that stuff, Garageband opened up a lot of possibilities for not a lot of $$$. i use it to compose and experiment, as well as an e...
