Anyone know what J. Robert Lennon aka inverseroom is up to these days? (Recent events notwithstanding..)
He sold something in the buy/sell area here a little while ago. It was kinda exciting.

Re: When there's drums in the bass mic

Get the bass mic where the bass in it sounds as good as possible, regardless of what the drums sound like after that.

Then you bring up the drum mic, eq it such that you're cutting out whatever frequencies are "too much" in the bass track until overall it's the right amount of everything.

Troubleshoot intermittant signal loss on one side of stereo buss A&H GL2400

Hi Folks, So, I got a new Allen and Heath GL2400 and I love so much about it, but it's giving me an issue. Every once in a while the right master channel seems to drop about 12 or so db and stay there. Then it'll come back up on its own sometimes. Sometimes there's little pops of distortion. It's in...

Re: I highly recommend REAPER

I wanted to use Reaper recently, but I couldn't even figure out how to arm a track. So I'm back to doing "sound on sound" in Audacity.

JAMAC here in Portland is the only place I've ever had do a good speaker reconing for me. All the others have been a waste of money.

Re: Older i7 pre-built PCs, advice needed

Don' know about now, but ya used to have to wartch the Dells as some of theirs defaulted to non-duplex I've not heard of that, but anybody using a real audio interface should not have an issue. If you try to use the built-in sound card on any PC I think you are asking for trouble... they are not re...

Re: Older i7 pre-built PCs, advice needed

I'm a fan of low budget barebones server towers for this. Look for the ones where the reviews rave about how quiet it is. You add a hard drive, maybe ram and your OS and you're good to go. The main benefit here is that you can buy any brand and install a vanilla OS without all the Dell/HP/Compaq bul...

Re: Upping my percussion recording skills

If the shaker (or any misc perc) is played right it can be very, very up close in the mix. Capturing the moment with percussion is all about transient management. Either capture them as pristinely as possible with your fastest mics and preamps placed correctly and maybe padded or smear them and smac...

How you doing, man? I was tempted to buy this, just so I could say I owned John Lennon's old 4-track. Glad you found a legit buyer.

Re: unhyped kick drum mic

Interesting - i have used a Stapes omni here and liked it a lot but curious how/where you'd place the PZM to mic the reso head? This was in a tiny, roughly triangularly shaped room, the last I tried it. So your mileage might really vary. I think putting the pzm on the wall opposite the bass drum wo...

Re: unhyped kick drum mic

I keep wanting to chime in on this thread, because I've been recording kick drums (usually my own) for 35 years now. And my most recent major change in my studio was the result of frustration trying to record marching bass drums in stereo. It caused me to chuck my entire mixer and get a new one. I'm...

I gave the mixer to Free Geek. I still have the snakes though if anyone needs them. I guess I'm willing to ship if buyer pays shipping. Make an offer!
