Re: Welcome Guests and Lurkers

Interestingly, TOMB is the one site where I get ads even with adblockers on. I actually appreciate that--ads are very much audio-focused, & I don't have to worry about being tracked or having ads tailored to something that has nothing to do with anything I care about. This is true for me too. I wor...

Re: Welcome Guests and Lurkers

if you click the "remember me" or whatever it is, you're always logged on. i turn off my computer many times and am always somehow still logged in here. just a thought. That only works if you don't clear cookies and history after each browsing session, as I do (yes, I wear a tin foil hat too) +1. A...

Re: Welcome Guests and Lurkers

I only log in to post or reply. Usually cruise by once or twice a day to see what's going on. I thought it was BYOB, so I'm cool on the drinks.

Thanks though.

Re: Device that elevates one microphone to speaker level

I guess I'm wondering where to get just the amplifier portion of a powered speaker. But not biamped. They all seem to be biamped. If someone knows of some 1-way powered speakers maybe I could just get an amp as a replacement part?

Re: Device that elevates one microphone to speaker level

Thanks for the idea. I can't quite make that work though. I'm trying to make a turnkey system for my wife to use at poetry readings. It doesn't have to be loud, but I want it to sound better than a guitar amp. The mic will probably be an AKG D321 and the two speakers to be driven are Bose Model 101'...

Device that elevates one microphone to speaker level

Hi, Does anyone know of a device that takes a microphone input (xlr, mic level) and puts out 30-60 watts of power to a speaker (8 ohms) from just that signal? Maybe just a gain knob, or gain and master? Preferably able to run off 12volts DC and mains voltage? I don't even know what that would be cal...

Re: people with consoles

I think it's more of a worry with old consoles, not brand new ones.

If anyone buys something from there and receives it, let us know. They have great prices on audio gear.

Re: Best Saturation For Specific Instruments

My favorite for low end instruments (bass and kick drum) back when I was digital / ITB was Quadrafuzz. It's like multiband saturation and was a great sortof distortion EQ for adding something to rumbly parts. It was a free plugin with some DAW I used to use. Does anyone know of any DAW that comes wi...

Re: the return of the ubertar ribbon mic

I'm still down for two if you're sharing. If not, I more than understand. I'll go for whatever design you think is best. My primary uses will probably be drum overheads and percussion (but for fairly quiet, low pitched, sources). I've never had a ribbon mic, ever, so I have no idea what's best.

Re: Looking for mixer to pair with Fostex R8

Does anyone know if one of those huge Allen & Heath 40 channel GL2800's can be easily made smaller? It seems like it could just be a matter of unscrewing something and disconnecting a ribbon cable to bring it down to 16-24 channels. Is that something a hack like me could manage? I really don't need ...

Re: Looking for mixer to pair with Fostex R8

do you record by yourself 4 or less inputs at at time? or are you recording 5-8 tracks? i ask because you can get away with a 4 buss machine if you're recording by yourself. the fostex machines have a feature where you plug inputs into Input 1-4, and leave 5-8 empty. when you are tracking those 5-8...

Re: Looking for mixer to pair with Fostex R8

Any particular A&H or Soundcraft mixers I should be looking for? Aren't some way better than others? Seems to be a buyer's market for used Analog mixers these days.

Looking for mixer to pair with Fostex R8

Hi folks, I'll try to keep this brief. I bought a Tascam M-1600 a while ago to pair with my Fostex R8. At first I thought it was a great match because I really like the feature set, the auxes, the busses, the D-sub out, and the -10 standard on the outs (iirc), for the most part works seamlessly with...
