Re: Is my situation condusive to a Monitor puchase?

The day I spent clearing out my studio and then moving my speakers all around while playing test sweeps was very, very illustrative.

Re: Mixing a band with a single, mono electric guitar

In my mind it would depend super heavily on what the arrangement was like.

Re: Do I Know Anyone With a 388 and Mad Drum Skillz?

I have a fostex 1/4" reel-to-reel right near a drum set. I've never been able to evaluate my drum skills though. I've been playing for over 30 years? I can do a paradiddle.

I added an advertising disclaimer "edit" to the original post. I'm sorry I didn't do that earlier.

Show Us Your Junk - cool gear porn YouTube Channel

Thought I'd share this since I just found it and enjoyed it. I only watched the Albini one so far, but I really liked it, even though I'm not an Albini super-fan or anything. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLLqZD2_F1XvVkfeZTshQ2xO0SB1Te4DR2 Which should I watch next? I haven't heard of a lot ...

Re: Bantam TT to 1/4 for guitar pedal after recorded?

One last question though: if my interface has a DI input on the front for guitars, can I go straight from a pedal into this? Or do I still need to use a separate DI? No, you're right, no need for DI in this case. Too be pedantically thorough though, you don't *need* a DI in either case. If you mana...

Re: Power Amplifiers in 2019?

I heard Carver amps can drive a short, so 6 Ohms should be child's play.

Re: Monitoring "amp"

I have several 2-channel, amp-only amps that I've used for monitors (and tiny PA) Hafler rackable, a Sony beautiful, solid home stereo style, a carver rackable, I'm sure I've used a tuner before for monitor amp. Now my monitors have their own biamps in them. I also have many different pairs of passi...

Re: Recommend a tech [in Portland] to work on a Yamaha Rev 7?

Does anyone know if Jim Williams / Audio Upgrades is still a thing? They list a $200 procedure for the Rev 7 on their web site, but my email has gone unanswered. I kinda feel like the Jim Williams treatment would be ideal.

Recommend a tech [in Portland] to work on a Yamaha Rev 7?

Hi Everyone, I guess the subject line says it all. I've got a Rev 7 I bought new in 1986. I think it's gotten really noisy and might need a recap or something. Or maybe it was noisy as sin all along and I never knew any better? I think the first step would be comparing it to a "known good" rev 7, bu...

Re: Secret Chords

I have secret cords.

If you're ever grabbing patchy lookin cables in my "studio", [unlikely], don't use the ones with sharpy marks, like, x's or abbreviations on the ends, without talking to me.
