Internal laptop mic as talkback mic??

Hi TapeOppers, I was wondering if any of you clever people out there have managed set up the internal mic of a laptop for use as talkback? This seems (to me anyway) as such an obvious thing to do, but I am going slightly mad trying to achieve it! I am currently working on a Macbook Pro with Focusrit...

Advice on Mac Book Pro+Firewire interface+Firewire drive

Hi TapeOppers, Was hoping someone out there may be able to help. I am in the process of upgrading my VERY elderly studio computer, and have decided to go mobile in the form of a Mac Book Pro 15? 2.66 Ghz i7 coupled with a Focusrite Saffire 56 running Pro Tools 9. This seems straightforward enough, h...

record with Todd Rundgren!? Scam?

Hi all,

I just received this via email....

http://www.myrecordfantasy.com/news/reg ... -rundgren/

Is this a scam? Seems too good to be true for Todd fans, but then again???

If it is true, he's welcome to do it in my home studio instead for free. I'll even cook dinner! haha

the Derek & The Dominoes album has bass down the left on pretty much every track. Seems to work though.

One mic at a distance from TIGHT singers. The tails are spot on in the linked example. If the part is a crotchet it ends bang on, so do the minims! Such a subtle thing to do but really tight live singing will always song better than any vocal aligning nonsense! Good luck!

"The Ambient Century" by Mark Prendergast is well worth a read too.......although having read it I now think "Yellow Submarine" is one of The Beatles' most important works!

Hi TapeOp,

Does anyone know if the March/April issue been dispatched in the UK?

I have a nasty feeling mine may have been eaten by Royal Mail!

Thanks for the Battery suggestion. I'm still a little uncertain that it can do what I'm trying to achieve though. I can't find reference to it on the website. Are you sure it will allow multi-track sampling? By that I mean if I have midi note C3 (or whatever) set to be 'Kick' then each time C3 is pl...

'Playing' a multi-mic'ed drum recording via midi.....

Hi everyone, I recently did a location recording in an interesting sounding room (basement stage of empty jazz-club) for a client and for one of my own projects. At the end of the session I got the drummer to play some single hits just in case I need to fix anything later. As it turns out the takes ...
