WTB: Studer 169 or 269

Hi! Anyone here have a spare Studer 169 or 269 laying around? I'd like to upgrade my tiny home studio and get out of the box a little bit. I will pay a handsome price.

Until.

Suggested/favorite signal chain for acoustic guitar...?

If this has been discussed before or if it just upsets you for some reason, I do apologize... I am in the process of planning an upgrade for my tiny home studio, and was wondering what mic/preamp combo people have had most success/satisfaction from. Also, if you can briefly describe mic(s) position ...

If this is just a "playful exercise", then you should definitely UTFSF. If you really want opinions about specific gear, then still UTFSF. If you don't find what you're looking for, then stop being coy and just ask about the gear that you're curious about. Gee, I guess I didn't realize that friendl...

Re: Starting from scratch...

These threads are ALWAYS needlessly more complicated than they should be. Saying that the budget has "no set limit" and then turning around and suggesting that we should "think mid-range" is bullshit. You OBVIOUSLY have a limit in mind. Tell us: a. What is your budget limit? Be honest. It doesn't d...

Starting from scratch...

Hello to all! What equipment you would buy for a project/home studio, starting with absolutely nothing but a well-treated space and a nice assortment of instruments? Computer/no computer Mixing console/no console Mic(s) Preamp(s) Compressors, EQ's, etc. and everything else you can think of... The bu...

I thank ye all for your replies and suggestions! The Oktava MC012 and additional capsules is quite intriguing indeed? Does the M1 capsule really make the MC012 sound like a U87? Is it really considered modding if all you are doing is swapping the capsule? Or is there more involved than meets the eye...

If you could only have one mic...

Hello to all! I hope that this question isn't too much of a repeat or a bother, but I must know. If you only had the monies to purchase one mic to use for quite a while, and you were intending to record a wide variety of acoustic instruments (guitar, hurdy gurdy, harp, harmonium, frame drums, flute ...

It's likely an AM station. I had a similar situation happen once when I was hot-rodding a cheap little solid state preamp. Whenever I shorted the input, I'd hear the local AM talker big as life on the output. The cable basically acted as an antenna at that point. Does the 58 work otherwise? Yes, it...

The c1000s does not have a pad switch on it.

Hi there. I did swap out the cable with at least two others.

Okay, thanks to all who replied with advice and such. I think the problem lies with the c1000s. I purchased an sm58 yesterday and discovered that it had more gain than the condenser... The 58 has an odd radio receiver built in, but it has answered my gain problem.

Thanks again!

I just have the one 58. It very well be the mic; I swapped out the cable twice and still pick up the radio station. It's neat to catch up on the latest news (it's a news station), but...

I've never had this happen before, hmmm....

Radio reception with an sm58...

Hello and hi. I am using a ProFire 2626 as my interface and mic pres. I have been using only a condenser mic with it, until tonight. I have discovered that plugging in an sm58 gives me a radio signal. How does this happen, and how do I stop it? I would appreciate any education about this phenomenon....

I'm not familiar with the Profire, but is there some kind of Mic / Line selector that's not set to Mic? I doubt that would be a software setting, more likely a button or switch somewhere. It could be per channel, or could be for the whole unit. That's not it. The first two channels have a mic/line ...
