Re: good kick drum mic under $300?
ugh, atm 25 IMO is seriously terrible. it just sounds so thin when compared to the D112. i say go for the D112, but this is all subjective. do a mic shoot out. EDIT: i have only used one ATM 25, so it is possible i used a "bad one." it was really really bad. i have both an ATM 25 and a D112. using ...

Re: Spirit Mixers
the EQ in the E series is comeplete shit to the M series but still should run circles round everything else in that price range. especially berihenger and the mackie. personally dont think soundcraft should have made the e series, wish they would have stayed out of that price point. it doesnt make a...

Re: Anyone here have a theory or composition degree?
at berklee you have to have two years of an instruement for any degree. and two years of voice training. i honestly didnt see how proving that i had no desire to sing was going to effect my ability to make records or score films. but oh well.

i think the 12" mix of "she's lost control" is one of the greatest records of all time, not to mention new order "temptation" which, in opinion, is the song thaqt truly defined the dawn of a new era of pop music that "blue monday " solidified (becoming the best selling 12" of all time). anyway. i do...

Re: what do these switches do? (on my new AT4050)
$350 for a 4050?!?!?! was it used? that's far less than cost. that's far less than 10% below cost wich is a pretty standard discount for high volume sellers. that is insane. being that a 4033 costs $399 again and all. shit.

Re: gtr cab mics
yeah. that is my complaint with the 421 as well as the 441.. they both end up duct taped to something.
oh well. such is life.

Re: Monitors: NS-10's?/Event 20/20's
for what it's worth. the 20/20's with a good amp can be amazing speakers.... try a haffler p3000.... the speakers take on an entirely different sound. the become clear and true. much more transparent.

anyone have an opinion on a Symetrix 501, 525? ART Pro VLA? Meek SC2.2? DBX 160? just curious what other s thoughts are. not really interested on opinions on RNC's or Distressors. plenty of those out there at the moment. really interested in other random things that arent used so much or are used in...

Re: gtr cab mics
i find a 57 to be nasal, midrangey, flat, dull and lifeless. im tired of the sound. not to say 421's are a new sound, people have obviously been been using them for just as long but they arent quite as accessible and they seem to be far more open and transparent. more true to life. my whole thing ha...

Re: I hate the D112
i prefer to use an RE20 inside the kick and a 4047 outside but ill also use a D112 and a ATM 25 inside. the two mics have such different frequency patterns the compliment each other in an amazing way. pan them slight away from each other with the LD in the center. massive. but i like the boom boom. ...
