I was just reading the interview with Steve Hoffman on the main site wherein he talks about warming up some of his remasters by passing them through Telefunken 12ax7's. Out of curiosity, I looked at tubedepot.com, from which I've gotten tubes before. They have three NOS Tele 12ax7's...for $1,300 a p...

To the OP: I'm not a particularly emotional guy, but I almost shed a tear at hearing about $1 mic's and $2 pedals. Now all I need is a time machine...

BTW, to the OP, I like your handle. In text messages, I usually spell it Gnome Sane, but I like you're spelling as well.

Check out Strange Weather and The Bunker, both in Brooklyn. I've had the privilege of working with the guys there and they're all fantastic engineers, with really nice gear, and, more importantly, good ears. Good luck

I don't know about London in particular, but trying to meet people into film/tv/videogames can be a good way to get audio jobs and get some paid work, or at least meet people doing audio. Best of luck

I suppose I'll give the standard answer: it depends. The short answer, however, will be building or buying more headphone amps. Even one more would cut down on cable mess and make volume control easier. If you have enough aux outs, you can route one aux send to each headphone amp so you can give eve...

I actually emailed Peavey customer service and they sent me the schematic the next day, so thanks for your help, and, if anyone ever has a similar problem, their customer service is top notch

Peavey MD-8 Schematic

Hi everyone,
A friend of mine was recently given a Peavey MD-8 mixer, and he's trying to restore/possibly mod it. I would really appreciate it if anyone here has a schematic or any information about this board that they're willing to share. Thanks a lot

The short answer is the Daking Mic Pre One. It has an amazing 3rd order FET distortion, although the caveat is that we use it, at work, with a Telefunken RFT bottle from the 30's-40's.? Anyway, the combo has the most amazing distortion. Regardless of the mic choice, I really like the sound of the Da...

Gram Parsons recordings

Hi everyone, I did a quick search and didn't find anything, so, if this question has already been asked, I apologize, but Gram Parsons is one of my favorite artists, but I can't find that much information about how he recorded. I know that he recorded his two solo albums at Capital in LA, but if any...
