I am really into cars as well as music. The roadfly boards have been a lot of help over the years.

Re: Quantegy closes its doors

I did not read every post in this thread so I don't know if the point has been made - but Looking at this from a guitarist point of view it seems that tape may end up a lot like tubes. Nobody on earth uses tubes in their homes other than we in audio, yet they are still produced. I for one am glad th...

Re: Damn, AT changed the 4050

My 4050 has the AT8449 shock mount. What a pain.

Re: Damn, AT changed the 4050

Cool, Thanks.

I'd still like to hear from anyone that has used both, just to know what the difference sounds like.

Also the older CM5 says 20-20 responce and the newer 4050 says 20-18.

'sup with that.

Thanks

Re: Damn, AT changed the 4050

Yea, I've got a GT66 and I love the mount on it. One part of the birdcage screws into the base of the mic and still gives good isolation. I wish the 4050 was as easy. Getting it back in the case with the part on that I leave on is a pain.

Re: Damn, AT changed the 4050

Both wieghts were listed as being "less accessories" so I doubt that the shock mount has anything to do with it. I think the new shock mount came to be to get rid of the arms that stuck up and down ont he older unit. MF still has the older unit listed on their website for sale but the PDF info sheet...

Re: Damn, AT changed the 4050

I can't give a comparison of the two but I have 2 of the AT4050's with no suffix and love them. In looking on the websites the 4050 w/ suffix website is dated 2000 and the straight 4050 is dated 2002, so it looks like the change was made a couple of years ago. The data page with my 4050s also is dat...

Re: Tom Dowd movie on sundance

The guy was involved with everything from the Bomb to Joe Bonamasa (sic).

My folks stayed with us over Christmas and even my dad was amazed at the scope of what he did.

I have it on Tivo but still need to get the DVD.

Re: How many people make a living in this industry?

I record as a hobby, screw the real world Really, I quit my "real job" the first of this month. Who really wanted to sell cranes and dump trucks? I'm taking this month off and will worry about making money next year. Going to try my hand a real estate investing. Who knows maybe I'll make enough mone...

Re: Obscure MXLs...

I have one that I have had so long I don't remember where I got it. Mine seems to have a lot more highs than lows. It does work well on guitar amps though. Never tried it as an overhead.

I wasn't bagging on the OSA, I just prefer my 512C & 312As. That's why I'm selling them. K.
What model and how much?

I might be a taker.

Thanks,

Re: OSA gear

Thanks all.

For the money and the 8 vs 6 rack I think the OSAs will win the first round. I may try to add an API piece or two into the rack but I think the OSA rack and two pres will be first.

OSA gear

I am curious about OSA mic pres. The info at their website of course makes their gear sound like the cats meow, but the last poster in the prior thread had API, BAE, and OSA and ended the post with "anyone want my OSA". The price point of 2 pre's and an 8 unit rack w/ power supply for $1399. sounds ...

API / OSA / BAE lunchbox question

What are the Pros and Cons of each vs the others. OK so I've looked and find a little cross talk about one vs. the other, but nothing that leads me to one and not the other. I think that if not for Christmas then just after I may add a lunchbox and 1 pre. It seems that I have $500.00 to put to gear ...
