Is this amp...broke (mp3 clip)

My amp was a refurb, and I may have screwed with the bias a long time ago. This is in the 25 Watt class a mode. Traynor YCS90 and some gold top gibson les paul I think. Could it be tubes, speaker, amp, or is this normal? Sounds distorted in a bad way to me. Thanks for any help https://soundcloud.com...

Thanks for that tip. Better than my idea I just came up with of frozen gatorade cubes. 8)

Will the fan cause weird inductance issues? :?:

I've done lots of soldering...and haven't checked for that yet. It would be difficult if it looks like a good solder joint but actually isn't...I suppose I should disassemble completely and check under the pcb. But the way it over heats and then comes back in after a short time reminds me of compone...

ART DMPA audio cuts out when hot

...I like to drive this thing hot and almost use it as a limiter for some things, but when using it all day, it can get quite hot inside and sometimes return digital distortion or completely cut out for about 10 seconds. I'm assuming a component is overheating. Is there at all a way to troubleshoot ...

Yeah, but then take that printed reverb track, duplicate it, and pitch shift the copy back down an octave... or even two octaves.. and mix together. Or better yet, time reverse the dry track to which you want to add the reverb. Then do all this. Then re-reverse the dry and wet tracks. And you will ...

Since my post was really just a worthless rant I'd throw in a recommendation for ribbon mics. One on recent track I did, I miss-routed the rack tom mic....but I didn't need it. And I like loud deep and boomy toms.

This is just me speaking as an amateur drummer and recording engy but I would record cymbals separately if I was mentally challenged, definitely. Then again I love wooden boats and jazz in my 20's so I suppose I am. Although if I wanted an FX recording, like what dj's do on remixes or techno or anyt...

I know you are short on time, but mebbe look here for an explanation of "dc offset", which states in relevant part: "DC offset is usually undesirable. For example, in audio processing, a sound that has DC offset will not be at its loudest possible volume when normalized (because the offset consumes...

Hey guys, so it's done and done (and now, um....I'm buying monitors....for the next pressing   :? thanks band members who blew the roof off my minimus 7's). So that pic was the window from Reaper 3.xx - rendering down about 40 mono tracks to a CD quality stereo track. Most were re...

I don't hear much phase issues, though I'd probably only hear it if it was really bad.
Didn't run a phase analysis either. I think it may only be a 'problem' on the limited hits (which are the drum beats; it's a long song). I bet it's averaging anywhere from -18 to -14, \haven't checked yet.

As for loudness wars....with two radio dj's in the band, I am definitely at war. Don't judge me! It is a rock band however...kinda. I do want to make clear that the file posted is a stereo mix - I was referring to each mono track looking unbalanced, not left or right being louder than the othe...

Phase questions - not just 180* out of phase

Hey all, I'm working on a demo due in a few days, and with ribbon mics, lots of mics, and lots of tracks for the first time I'm having more phase issues. Most are resolved by proper mic placement, but when experimenting with reaper's cool new limiters, I see that I'm out of phase...a little. I'm won...
