4050 and 4060 are a couple of my favorite "budget studio quality" mic's. 4050's being quite clean, present,accurate on preety much anything. 4060 having a nice granular quility i like, one of the only tube mics available for under 2 grand that sounds the way i think a tube mic should.

I was having some simalar problems a few months back. Solution was sending the smpte code off the tape machine to a pre amp and then to tools. After that everything locked up nice.

thanks, more things to worry about. Now we are going to tell people we cant fix it in tools cause there is no electricity.

If you are willing to come out to chicago, there are many a room to visit running all analog for more then resonable rates. I have gotten clients some really nice spaces for much less then they should have been paying.
