Try this as an alternative: -- leave your monitor wiring as is (i.e., don't invert the phase of one monitor) -- track the vocal with the monitors as loud as you like (avoiding feedback, for obvious reasons) -- record a second track with EVERYTHING set exactly the same, except flip the phase on the m...

Re: Heart of Rock and Roll - Most Sterile Recording Ever
Hey, I'll cop to the ownership of MORE than one HL&tN records. I'm not proud. Those boys could play. They were definitely "safe", but they could play. Minor quibble: it was Huey's previous band called Clover that backed young Declan McManus on his debut album. Several of the members of Clover eventu...

Re: Anyone a fan of ADAT or DA-88?
The best recordings I've made yet were done with a cheap AT stereo mic and a bunch of SM57s through Mackie preamps to a pair of DA-88s. I now have a boatload of outboard Neve, API, Great River, and Trident preamps, along with all kinds of great microphones from Neumann, Royer, etc., and I still have...

Re: Anyone a fan of ADAT or DA-88?
I have a DA-38 and (2) DA-88s I would be happy to sell. PM if interested.
(I currently use a Tascam MX-2424, so it's not a matter of not liking the brand!)

"Skips" on playback in Samplitude
<originally posted on the marsh @ prosoundweb.com> OK, I have no idea what happened between last week and this week, but for some reason, I can no longer play back stereo Wave files in Samplitude 6.0 "Master" without the occurence of random skips. They never happen at the same time, which leads me t...

I can't find the one-sheets on your site, David. I'm probably just being stupid. Lots of cool mp3s, though!

Thanks, David. What do you usually include in the one-sheets? It seems vendors want something different than press which wants something different than radio.
Our wholesale pricing to local stores has typically been ~ 67% of "retail". Does that jive with what your seeing with distributors?

Re: Amplified Heat (Austin, Texas)...new MP3 up
GREAT review, David. I'm sure you're happy to have this kind of response. How does Arclight handle distribution? Has it been a problem getting your records in boutique stores nationwide? If you don't mind, could you give us an idea what kind of fees are involved and how many units the typical distro...

Re: Feedback wanted -- Austin hard rock band
Thanks for buying the CD, alissa, and THANK YOU for the heads-up on the shipping. I had no f'n idea they were charging that much. In theory, it's a Texas distributor. They were based out of Texas forever. Ultimately, they moved to Washington, but that shouldn't affect the shipping that much. It is t...

GC Oktava mics
I have two pairs of the Oktava small diaphragm condensers that GC sells. They're new in the box. GC would periodically blow them out for $99/pair, but they've been either unavailable or $199/pair for quite a while now. I'll split the difference -- $149/pair. I think they're decent mics, especially f...

Re: Snare Drum Alert!
I have four of the GC Oktava mics I'll sell in pairs. They're new in the box. PM me if anyone's interested.
Thanks for the tip on the drum . . . I'll head over to the Austin store at lunch and see if they have any.

Awesome! I'll tell Charlie that his mom has made it onto tapeop.
By the way, alissa, you might have crossed paths with a friend of mine who now lives in Minneapolis. Ever heard of Dan Israel & the Cultivators? He's a very talented songwriter. I'd describe their sound as "energetic alt-country".

Re: Feedback wanted -- Austin hard rock band
Thanks, David. For the life of me I can't figure out why the mp3 seems to exaggerate certain 'verbs, etc. I can sort of understand the bass getting messed up, but the reverb on the intro of "Chemical Imbalance" sounds nothing on the mp3 like it does on the CD. Oh well. The band is being "mentored" (...

Let me know what you think of the BLR mp3s. I posted a link in another thread a couple of days ago.
I'm gonna have to order that Amplified Heat record. Sounds cool.
