Looks good! Have you looked at the board much? Might be possible to tell if it's balanced by looking at the input stage. Otherwise, process of elimination: are there any connected pins that you're not using that aren't ground?

Nick: I don't think you know what you're talking about. I've never seen aircraft equipment of that vintage on 115VAC with that sort of plug (28VDC is much more common, and AC power is generally marked 400Hz); I also don't believe that BK Precision has ever built aeronautical equipment (although I ma...

my stuff is weird and marginal enough that i doubt it would impress your client. i've had seven or so things mastered by him over the years, and i've always been happy by the time we're done. i've had stuff done by better known people and didn't find them nearly as willing to work with me to make it...

i would guess this is bruel & kjaer, not bk precision, from the color & style of the faceplate. most likely this would have been intended for vibration or acoustic analysis. edit: and the logo is pretty close to their current one...i've had some b&k test gear of that vintage, which looked quite simi...

opposite of what it wants - a rosin dispenser might be useful, but it actually seems to stick well enough with occasional application. i imagine the wheel will break itself in with time, one way or the other.

Thanks! Yes, the wheel is rosined - the strings are unwound piano wire. I like it a little bit harsh :). Real hurdy gurdies wrap the string in cotton or silk fiber at the point of contact to smooth out the sound, which I didn't do. I'm using a fairly rough plastic wheel, also. Glad you like it! But ...

Bass electric "hurdy gurdy". The keys are held on with magnets & are movable; I made a bunch, but only have a few on it here. Haven't figured out how to play it yet, but here's how it sounds.

Fair enough! I guess I was responding more to it being droney, long form improvisation with (forgive me) "exotic" sounding scales, and less to the timbre or tuning. Paul's second track on that link, to me, doesn't sound like a totally different universe, or something by SRB like "Space Prophet Dogon...

to me it sounds closest to the sir richard bishop/paul metzger weirdo "raga" sort of thing. not sure there's a name for the genre, though.

The sound works for me. Impressive playing! I don't think this is metal, particularly.

Is this using your multi-fuzz you posted?

They're threaded, like for these: http://www.stewmac.com/Hardware_and_Parts/Tuning_Machines/Solid_Peghead_Guitar_Tuning_Machines/Gotoh_Schaller-style_Knob_Individual_Tuners.html Maybe they're metric...sure measure awfully close to 34tpi, though. Found a large lot of these bushings for a good price; ...
