You're not gonna make me butthurt: They laughed at me when I sat down to operate an iPad as a surface controller.

iPad rids your studio of mice

Eno, usually ahead of everyone else, said the mouse was a crappy way to get stuff done. Here's my big prediction: as more iPad control surface apps come along, such as the one pictured below, folks will quit using mice. I'd also bet mama cow that the iPad becomes an interface for other classes of ap...

Any info on this Vinatage Akai Ribbon Mic

I got this for $10 at a yard sale with an Akai Terecorder mono reel to reel deck. The pictures are the same as what I have, expect mine has gold plating on the screen cover. Since I'm thinking about putting it on a guitar amp, can it handle high SPLs? http://www.sudsakon.com/img/quiz/njwwc.jpg http:...

Why are you trying to go "small"? Do you have a recording to reference what your trying to get? Small amps are great ways to get monster sounds. Think Fender Champs and "Layla". MC5 didn't know that all their huge amp stacks would result in weak ass guitar sounds when they first recorded.

Careful where you point that 64 bit OS, son.

I like Windows 7: The interface is up to MAC standards without being a clone. But I like it for everything except for sound, especially the 64 bit version, on which I record using my Zoom H4 as a direct input , my Tascam US122 is also useless, and my on board Realtek sound card is also non op. Sooo,...

This Ibanez Jetking 2 (JTK2) is cheap, out of production and fun to play.
You get coil tapping so you can switch from Gibson bark to Fender Strat spank. Image

Still, the reliability of refurbished Macs is likely to be better due to the greater QC refurbished Macs get. Do you have any proof of that assertion, or are you talking out of your ass? -a That is a very, very fair question, and it truly deserves a respectful response. Unfortunately for myself, I ...

Most of the time, the refurbish stuff is newly discontinued mac product. Unintentionally or not, the quoted reply is a little misleading. Yes, there is a lot of newly discontinued product in the refurbished area of the Apple Store (there is also a clearance area, so refurbished does mean refurbishe...

Advice: buy refurbished Mac from Apple.com and apply the savings to Apple Care. The refurbish stuff is gone over well and may be up to better specs than the brand spanking new stuff.

I won't tase you, Bro

I'd be cautious about trying to use these as a field recorder at a courthouse, statehouse or any other place spooked about terrorists: it looks too much like a taser. I had an Amtrak conductor get little hyper about my H4, until he recognized that it had XY pattern mics on it. This guy was sharp and...
