Re: Reaper crossfades won't work

The Reaper shortcut list says "toggle auto crossfading" is Alt+X. Try that?

Re: Reaper crossfades won't work

I got nothing, but last night I couldn't get the "cursor to edge of item" command (control+[, control+]) to work, would just get the mac error beep. frustrating...

Re: TASCAM 388, won't record

I recently solved the same problem, with my Tascam 38 (different deck, same problem). I had had it in storage for about 2 years, worked and clean when packed away. I was able to play back existing material but not record. I had to demag the tape path and meticulously clean everything, and then it re...

Re: mixer channels right to left?

That's definitely the long term plan. Still curious about why it would be laid out this way in the first place though.

mixer channels right to left?

hi TOMB, long time no post. I am going through a Soundtracs MR 32 channel desk that I recently acquired. So far haven't encountered anything too surprising EXCEPT... the input channel order is right to left. Standing at the console from the operator position, from left to right it has 32 input chann...

Re: Equality, Equiibrium, what have you!! EQ plugs..

I use the hell out of the Stillwell 1973 EQ. It's great at helping an otherwise good sounding instrument track find its place in the mix. for surgery, I'll pile on with another endorsement for ReaEQ.

I actually like what happens when you layer guitar effects at multiple points in the process. The last few records I worked on, the guitars (sometimes me, sometimes other people) would play through stomp boxes, use the amp's reverb, etc. And then in the mix, I'd add additional effects, often of the ...

I used an ITB amp simulator (eleven free) for the first time ever last night. I've always been a "nothing fake, mic'd sources only" type of person, but I am learning pro tools by doing some incidental music for a video project, so this seemed like as good a time as any to try an amp modeler. I'd agr...

I built the copper kit last week, and it was a breeze. High quality board, components and instructions made for a great experience. I haven't spent very much time recording with the pre yet, but so far I am impressed.

+1 for crashplan. I just joined recently, and it took 6 days to do the initial backup, but now that it's running it works great and is good peace of mind. Like alexdingley I still use time machine for fast recovery and a bootable copy of the computer. Crashplan is just data.

All the zoom Hx series are great, for different reasons. I've had an H2 for what feels like forever and it's recorded pretty much every band rehearsal and song idea (plus the occasional foley thing for my wife, who's a video editor) for the last 6 years or so. I just put the mic in "front + back" mo...

It's now $55 flat fee to repair an SM57, with return shipping included. still a bargain if you can scrounge up a few dead ones for free. Stuff as many as you can into a USPS small flat rate box, and send them out for less than $6...
