i like impulse response verbs a lot. they always feel more real, to me, than regular verbs. maybe they lack that unreal sounding extra high end information. sometimes happy with waves IR1 but most of the time i go back to TL space, which i got a used iLock license for a while back, real cheap. funny...

i've built many systems over the years, some for DAW's some for gaming and personal use. i think DAW building is technically easier since you have a cheat sheet to follow in the approved hardware list from the software you're going to use. still many people have big problems with it, in every case i...

i never have trouble getting more low end than i need out of 10"s. always end up shelving some off. 15"s is just more stuff i have to get rid of later. note: that i tend to mix the kick drum with the lowest fundamental frequency with the bass guitar sitting above it. some people go the other way, ma...

...Adams sounded really bland to me, ... that's the advantage. you don't want monitors that enhance your mixes. you want them to reveal the problems. and the folded ribbon tweeters make for great transient clarity with out being fatiguing. (i chose Adam when i upgraded back in the spring, by the way)

as apple's market share grows they become less likely to stick with their professional users and rather aim for expanding casual users. just like how there is only one factor that decides if a movie gets a sequel, apple will always go where the money is. as soon as they decide there is more money in...

If it was me, I'd try to get more verbiage "above the fold" by making your name smaller, so it fits across the top and then make the tag line under it, even smaller than that to differentiate it from your name. I found that big blocky headline hard to parse. I'd also get rid of the "Home page" link...

12AU7 has a rating of 19 vs. 12AX7 with a rating of 100...so this will make 12AU7 "cleaner" and "quieter"... actually when you swap a 12AX7 for a 12AU7 in the input stage of a guitar amp (which is what we're talking about here) the amp get's more saturated, distorted, compressed, tube-y sooner. tha...

i love the waves classics collection. i mostly use the API and V series (neve) EQ's, the API compressor HUGE! and the v-series comp gets some use. rarely the SSL channel strip, just don't love the feel of that as much, but sometimes it's the only thing that works. but the SSL bus comp is on virtuall...

i use mix bus compression to even out tha instooments so they have a balance, man. automating faders takes too long! ok, but really, i like getting the basic balance between the guitars, bass, and drums in the most intense part of the song. putting on a mix bus compressor and tuning it to tak...

yea M/S with another condenser often sounds good out in front of the kit. i'm a big fan of using 2 figure of eight mikes in blumlein. i do this with my cascade fathead II's. very realistic image, sounds just like if you were listening from that same spot and perfect mono compatibility for easy phase...

this is how i do bass guitar most of the time. i usually end up overdubbing guitars later, rather than keeping and re amping the scratch tracks. mostly since i put many more tracks, doubled and extra parts, in the case of guitar. but, don't be scared, do it up! this is an opportunity to take your sw...
