FS: TOMB Ribbons(pr), ATM450(pr), Electrix Mo-Fx, etc

Hey, folks. Got a few things I need to part out: TOMB Ribbon Mics (single or pair) Of "I'll take two and I can pay" fame. Work pretty cool as drum room mics. I removed the obtrusive XLR connector and replaced with a Canare starquad "pigtail" (effectively making the mic more positionable). Never got ...

I have to 2nd (or 3rd) Dropbox. 2gb free, but you can upgrade to 50 GB ($99/yr) or 100 GB ($199/yr). Although it doesn't require an application to use it, they do supply one that works great. Not only do you get the online storage space but it syncs across all your computers and mobile devices that ...

Electronic stores like Fry's have those decal sets that you rub pencil over to transfer the letters on to the gear. I did it on the pre's I built and although it isn't super nice looking, it kinda has a cool "prototype" look to it (enhanced by the military green primer that I painted the chassis wit...

It's true, the "import session data" window in HD is significantly more advanced than LE. The "match tracks" option can be particularly useful. But it's not necessarily crippling in LE.

The DV toolkit does give you an HD-style import dialog, FWIW (among other things).

Thanks, guys. That util from Rail is pretty handy. In my case, however, I couldn't use it to "change" anything in the files (it just rendered them silent). I'm pretty sure that the files are "32 bit" whatever. If I open them in Audition or Samplitude it says so. Oddly, the Pro Tools workspace and th...

32 bit, 24 bit, 16 bit, Who is lying?

Hey folks. So I recently received some files from a tracking session for me to do some overdubs and mixes on. The tracking engineer apparently used Adobe Audition to record the tracks. I am using Pro Tools. According to the workspace in PT, the files I received are 16bit 44k. Naturally, this is not ...

Back in the USSR: tracked 22 August 1968...the day Ringo quit the band. That's another point for Ringo. People often act as if his membership in the Beatles was an act of charity or something. But the minute they started acting retarded, Ringo just says, "Fuck it, I'm outta here." Ringo. Quit. The ...

Has anyone ever found that they have to be really diligent about maintaining mic placement, constantly , when doing this? Specifically with the guitar, I find that the performers very often make subtle movements which can dramatically change the sound, requiring constant readjustment of the guitar m...

Yeah, nothing like those marathon sessions. I remember one time, the studio had been closed for a few weeks over the summer while a major international artist was using the live room to rehearse for their tour. During this time, the owner decided to redo the wiring. I went in at 10am Thursday to fin...

I wonder if you could save on water if you went to one of those places where they dispense it from a machine. They used to be outside grocery stores back in the day, but I sometimes see "shops" for them around L.A. I once had a boss who made me take his 5gallon jugs to the local "health" store which...

I wonder what that dynamic looking mic he's singin into is. Looked to me like one of those Neumann KMS-105s (which is a condenser mic btw). I've worked with them a couple times- they're not as vibey as a 47 or c12 obviously, but they sound pretty good and most notably seem to be really good at off-...

I'm so glad you pointed this out; I've never liked the credit reporting on AMG and I might finally have a chance to straighten some of it out. Thanks, Joel!
