yeah that's what I have in mind now! Thoses last few days I went straight to my rehearsal space after work and set up everything for drum miking. I used the D19 to record a bit of bass at rehearsal to remember a song. Just pointed it anywhere on the cab really. when we listened back even my drummer ...

ha! This year bought 19" & 18" paiste dark energy crashes and the mark I ride. Those just stood out. I tried pretty much every zyljian, istanbul, masterworks, meinl, paiste... there is. a hand-made snare by CAZZ, 7" deep, made from oak and it is built like a barrel. This is one of the most versatile...

MY guitars are messed up! yours did indeed sound excellent! i was kidding of course. I can't record guitars for shit. see, but that shows, the focus you put on sound and transitions instead of "complex" structures. listening to those tunes does something with you. the mixing is really clever, morph...

great stuff. so chill and spherical and at the same time pumping in some way. made me reminisce about being a kid in the 90ies. not sure why :D maybe it's the production and the way the bass sits and the livelyness soundwise. --> curtains love the distortion/reverb on the snare the desert and curtai...

what I found to be even more annoying is musicians inviting girls to watch over for sessions without notice.

cats are cool but most dogs bark to much for studios imo.
I had ducks there when I recorded at my parent's home.

some of the less important stuff often sounds better when you can't hear it totally perfectly. your imagination fills in the information and IMO often does a better job than you could with an eq or whatever. you can only pay attention to so many things at once. pick yer battles. this. also I've fou...

i'm not 100% positive about them but the last bunch of omar rodriguez lopez albums really spit in the faces of all modern production values. equinox saber, querer, osar y callar un corazon de nadie unicorn skeleton mask and some others they are really creepy but if you look for it you can def. find ...

for what joninc describes condensers are working great if you're looking for sparkly with lots of details. I've found that some guitars/players are too percussive to do that, so ribbons or dynamics work much better. darker mics tend to make the guitar sound tighter and more direct sounding IMO but i...

Well, second row is going to give you crappy sound experience in most venues. except when there's not an ampeg 8x10, two guitarplayers turned all the way up and a hard bashing drummer... i think that some times that's the bands fault. on the other hand i've seen someone mix with industrial foam ear ...

i like the novation mk2. stable and intuitive controller and nice keyboard.
the only thing that really sucks on those are the "drum pads"... boy

i think the appropriate thing to ask here would be why does roland build such a thing? :D i imagine a close mike with wide pickup pattern could turn out pretty weird because of the phasing issues from the angled speakers. maybe it'll sound interesting you never know. But if you like the sound when p...

if you're comparing different tracks for sound you sure want to match the levels first.
esp. when listening to mastered vs unmastered songs.

what's weird is that you say it sounds too bright.
usually it would sound too dull if you're listen to it quietly imo...
