The Joe Meek is very flashy indeed. I think of it as a character box. Or maybe even a cartoon. Good to make bold statements with. GAP73s, to my ears, are hype. Absolutely second the MPA. Especially if you're willing to crack 'er open and put some nice tubes in her instead of the mega cheap ones that...

The Duet is an mbox-type thing, especially when you factor in the new MBoxes that actually sound pretty darn good. If you really dig the Apogee sound, grab a used Rosetta 200. That's really my best advice to you. Apogee has a sound that's fairly unique to them. However, if you're looking to a nice A...

No apology necessary. I do dig the idea of offering an apology for how you said it, but not what you said. If you have the patience, explain to him why what he did is wrong. Help him. And even maybe next big session like that toss him a $20 or buy him dinner if he earned it. I would also mention it ...

It's pretty cool. One thing to consider before you make the $249.00 upgrade is that Pro Tools 9 requires an iLok, so if you don't have one you'll need to pick one up. I'm wondering if the $599.00 boxed version comes with an iLok? The video on the AVID site show a different iLok...but it's not avail...

[...] This whole thing will go away soon enough. Apple started delivering higher quality downloads as storage and bandwidth improved. I don't have any reason to believe that won't continue. In the meantime, nobody forces any of you golden ears to listen to mp3 files. And, nobody forces the public t...

The new Symphony system is definitely a bid for the large I/O market. When fully loaded, the Symphony I/O becomes really cost effective. When you just really want 8 or even 2 channels.... yikes. I have heard the new Symphony I/O. Actually, I will preface my post a bit: Apogee is not my brand of choi...

Don't sweat it. Take the job if you think it's worth it. It is conservative.... for a city. Yes there's a huge Christian music scene there, and as such some of the people you will meet will be very religious. But many of them will also be professionals since music is so heavily commercialized down y...

ummm, what i read said that it supports both TDM plugins and delay compensation with plugins. did i read wrong on sweetwater? Sorry, but you must have misread the chart. HD TDM uses TDM, HD Native does not. But! Native also DOES do delay compensation for hardware AND software inserts, just like HD ...

My (dream) solution? Radar converters as the front end for my DAW of choice. Best of both worlds because beyond the converters, RADAR is in most ways a tape machine / proto DAW. http://www.izcorp.com/ada.php Yes, thank you. I'm painfully aware. But they're more than a little outside of my pri...

[It DID go down, and repairing the hardware took a few weeks. Criminally long? No way, but still a downer. Shipping back and forth to Canada was a drag. Why? What took so long and why was shipping to Canada a drag? This was a RADAR II, so perhaps some of the parts weren't in at the moment as even t...

Pros: -Radar will never crash; it truly is a remarkably stable operating system -The one time I saw it crash in three years (due to the latest software update needing more memory), the iz tech support folks were insanely fast, efficient, easy, and friendly -The converters are awesome -The transport...
