thank you! that is helpful.

Me, I'd get a submixer. I mean, you can obviously do it any of the ways you mention, but if I wan't submixing (say, the stereo drums and piano), I'd probably do the "one mic each" thing. But then, I'm a guitar player. Oh yeah, I have one of those. So stereo drums and piano through the sub...

Upcoming session using 4 mics

Hi! This weekend I'm doing a bare-bones session, recording myself (vox & acoustic gtr), a grand piano, and a small drum kit. I only have four mic inputs. Thinking about using a matched pair of Rode NT5 small condensers on the kit (glyn johns method), an SM81 small condenser overhead on the piano, an...

New tracks

Wanted to mention that the same group of fellas who played on this record convened once again in 2013 for recording sessions at Cleveland musician/engineer Brian Straw's studio, Ohio Ready Mix. The two tracks from that project, 'DAWN' and 'ONE HUNDRED PERCENT' are up at http://mikeuva.bandcamp.com ....

Okay, that makes sense. Lastly...is there any difference between the cassettes loaded with BASF versus the one loaded that you linked to? Thanks unsure, but here's info about BASF etc: http://tapetardis.wordpress.com/2012/05/15/the-type-ii-chrome-bias-audio-cassette/ also a tapeop thread recommendi...

Thank you. Any specific reason to choose the 22 minute variety? I realize you don't want longer than 60... For example, they have 60 minute ones here: http://www.deltamedia.com/CPX-60.html?leftmenu=blankmedianav Mostly convenience (just having one song per tape makes it easier to keep organized) an...

Sounds great...not something I'd buy but the recordings are good. I just picked up a 688.. What cassettes are you using? I bought bulk, a case of 100 hi-bias tapes. You can get them in different lengths, these ones are 11 minutes per side, perfect for 4-tracking: http://www.deltamedia.com/1C022CS.h...

I have to say...this is overwhelmingly the best response I've ever seen on a "Listen to My Stuff" thread. Usually it's crickets or one off handing remark. this should tell you that you've made something great. Nice. Overall, the biggest response to the album has been on the TOMB. Much appreciated!

Mike, I've never heard of you before but it took all of 20 seconds for me to decide to buy the vinyl. Really great work here. Sound, writing, performances, all fantastic and it hangs together so beautifully. I rarely, RARELY buy records with so little knowledge or reference, but I could instantly f...
