I see this sort of stuff for all kinds of auctions in Japan and I come to the same conclusion - whatever game they are playing, I don’t have time to play and find out if real or a scam.

I assume one or more of these auction is a scam, right?

Yeah I don’t think a pad is there to protect the mic, my understanding is it’s to help avoid overloading the mic’s electronics and or reduce the output level for going into a preamp.

Nearly every session I’ve recorded in the last 15 years. But I’m not going to tell you I did it for any perceived Sonic benefit, but instead just became habit at the request of the primary client that most of my work funneled through.

Bit the bullet and got the Plugin Alliance's offer to buy all their plugins for $399.

Mind you, I already owned quite a few, so this was to complete the collection, as it were.

Hmm I was gonna say Polytune but that seems to be orphaned also. Not a big deal, it was free but worked well. I don’t think about it much bc I have tuners in like everything now…
