Re: Recording Mac in 2019

I went from a quad core cheese grater to a 12 core cheese grater a few years ago after I was hitting the limits of the quad core for a film. I think that’s still an awesome system, good bang for buck, if you are like me and like the expandability. But of course, no thunderbolt. Which hasn’t been a p...

Would an M-Audio M Track Eight be sufficient? https://m-audio.com/products/view/m-track-eight

There's a used one for sale in my area.
I have no experience with this model but on paper it seems like it should work.

Re: 388 Dumping to Digital? What do I need?

How much are you expecting to spend?

The thing with the 388 is, you’ll need to transfer all 8 channels at once (as opposed to 2 at a time or whatever) due to sync issues...so logically then you need an interface capable of 8 simultaneous ins.

Re: Do I Know Anyone With a 388 and Mad Drum Skillz?

Actually, I'm okay with that idea. Any advice on packaging? I don't want my sloppily recorded rough tracks wiped clean by an over enthusiastic DHS employee. I think with regard to shipping 1/4" reels, just common sense packaging is sufficient (pack things so they aren't flopping around loosely in t...

Re: What musical thang didja work on today/night?

sounds interesting. Thanks, just submitted the full score for this feature over the weekend (have been working on this for some time, as the film has been in post production awhile). I expect there will be some adjustments so technically not “finished” but had to make a cut off for a festival deadl...

Re: Monitor dilemma

Its been ~14 years since I've mixed on NS10s, and at least for the me, I'm not into them. I get why they would be good to have in a commercial studio for sure (versus some places I go to that have abstract monitors I know fuck all what I'm hearing), but for my own personal studio, I wouldn't want th...

Picked up a couple rack devices on the cheap... Emu Proteus 2000 and a Roland SDE 1000.

Re: Pre-Amps Rec's for Instruments and Mics?

when I record to machines like 388 or a3440 etc. - I'd usually want the opposite pre of warm/slow/syrupy something fast and snappy in the API style is my favorite as it compliments the characteristics of the format providing a good balance to digital is another story then I might reach for warm/slo...

Minimal Band/Composer/Studio Website

I’ve had a website forever but I feel like the hosting is overkill for my needs. I am not a band or a studio for hire, but I am a “minor league” composer with a couple film credits and some albums and remixes with various well known people which is why I feel like I should have some place holder out...

Re: TASCAM 388, won't record

This may sound redundant but to provide meaningful help vs shooting in the dark, Can you outline verbatim all of the steps you are taking to record and playback? Are you plugged into the headphone jack vs speakers, etc...tell us as much as you can.

Re: 500 series racks - how much power do I need?

Not to discount the Radial, but on the cheap the Midas L10 looks like a crazy deal. I have an L6 which is just fine for my needs. I like the easy chaining of channels (switch versus patching cables), and 10 year warranty is legit. 8) Do you think the internal switched power supply is a compromise? ...

Re: Tascam 388 right channel

So I just checked and yeah it's happening across the full spectrum. Just replaced the right bus fader but it didn't help. I'm going to try changing the master fader tonight to see if that helps. Any other thoughts? I've had pretty good luck trouble shooting but swapping parts, but this might be the...
