Re: Recording Trends/Techniques that drive you nuts
I am an old by your standards (almost 36). I am fine with sampling as a creative tool (and own many “retro” samplers) but to me when you’ve got a metal or a rock band, replacing the drummer with the same canned samples as everyone else / cutting it locked to the grid does not feel like a creative th...

Re: Recording Trends/Techniques that drive you nuts
I hate it when someone has tried to pan or otherwise duplicate effect a single mono guitar part across the stereo field, sounds like my ears are in a vacuum. I have someone who will do this with his guitar parts, like 3 or 4 duplicate tracks. Just play it again, fool (it’s not complicated parts eit...

Re: Mysterious increase in LF with this plug-in chain
My guess is maybe what you are seeing is a resonance in the HPF used. What happens if you turn the HPF off and just make a shelf?

Re: Tascam 388 Maintenance, Repair and FAQ thread
Has anyone ever gone through with getting their heads relapped? One of my machines has heads that need it. I understand JRF provides this service still I was more just curious if anyone has done it. Thanks I had JRF relap and align the heads on my 38 (not 388) several years ago, and it cost $190 pl...

Re: ADVICE: send in my re20 or fix myself?
I did the foam replacement. It was a PITA but doable, and I'm not the best at these things. I wasn't having a problem with thin sound though, but getting a lot of noise since the diaphragm was moving around. I think given you don't know what the problem is, it might be worth sending it in to get ch...

Re: Whatcha's workin on this weekender?
I get larfed at sometimes for having lots of pedals - and I don't mean owning, but rather on my bass or guitar pedal board. I typically take 10 + a wah to jam sessions, because I like sounds. I know of guys that use 3-4 different envelope filters on their bass board, so I'm not the only one. Curren...

... however there is not room on the bottom to mount my 1 spot cs 12. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ImNHHF1wSK-ZALiDgpJBMraMTGPtJnwW/view?usp=drivesdk Can you mount the 1 Spot on the board, and then a lesser-used pedal or 2 atop it? You right. I was able to put it under two pedals (it is 8” wide...

Re: Whatcha's workin on this weekender?
The theme the last couple weeks has been organizing. Cleaned up my closet / vocal booth, put all of my guitars in there (it doesn’t look like much standing space, and it isn’t...but as long as I stay skinny I’ll fit fine). I had sold my “giant” Mesa dc 10 2x12 which was occupying a significant footp...

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
Not new gear per say but I hacked an insert jack into the feed between my Farfisa vip 200 and it's built in amp/speaker box. Now I can run pedals through the internal amp. Currently running it through the filter of a hacked monotron. Tons of fun. https://medias.audiofanzine.com/images/normal/farfis...

Re: Aston Microphones acquired
Is that a better or worse fate than being bought by Gibson? Seems like Gibson and Behringer are becoming the same type of company. 8) Everywhere (not just in music) there's a lot of buying up smaller companies that have a product (or a few) and then just sucking the profits off of them until they d...

Re: Hearing Imbalance
Glad I'm not the only one who has experienced this. I'm going to keep monitoring it for a couple of days, and look into the options y'all have mentioned here. Thanks for chiming in! C It’s common, all related if you have had a cold, and sometimes it just gets backed up. I checked my medicine cabine...

Re: Hearing Imbalance
Cleaning out with an OTC product (debrox maybe was it?...spray something tingly in, and soak, and flush with a bulb) is an eye (or ear...) opening experience. It was a frustrating process at first, but once I figured out how to make it...productive ( ) it was great. I had one ear that was mu...
