Alright bros. I got my XLR to RCA cables and went from the Otari to the 520 for mixing. Woah. Not only can I hear all the tracks when only one channel is on, but everything's distorted. I knew crosstalk was a possibility, but I didn't know it would be this much. I used the little "Repro gain" calibr...

Alan Jackson- Don't Rock the Jukebox. What did I expect. Country music was dead by the time I was born. I remember my dad listening to the song in the car as he drove me to school and such.

I'm so glad you posted this. I'm doing the same thing with a M520 right now. I'm thinking of going: outboard pre & comp patchbay> mixer direct in's for submix/summing> buss out's> mx5050>second set of direct in's for final mix> stereo master out to DAW/2track That requires some odd cabling, but I fo...

I'm listening to it now for the first time since I've heard so much about it. Wow. I don't really know what to say. They really made the drums sit nice in the mix for each "sound." The snare is so soft for "Red Eyes" but then has a great overhead sound for "Suffering." Super cool stuff. It reminds m...

I try to get fancy with bending the strings behind the slide and such. A volume pedal also helps get the pedal steel vibe.

Well, let me know if you play a show down here. It'd be fun to see a fellow tape-op'er.

I really dig it. Sounds really great for bedroom recordings. Is that an MX-70? Thanks! Yes, that's my trusty MX-70 16 track. I like your music too. I really like the pedal steel guitar on "Slow Trucks." Is that you playing? Thanks! Ya it's me on the lap slide. Actually...It's me on everything. You ...

You ought to go across the entire tape path with a demagnetizer just to kill any possible magnetic fields you may have inadvertently caused, or it will start eating your high end off your tapes. You did buy a demagnetizer, didn't you? Not yet. It's on the to-buy-list. It's gonna be a long process g...

While I have you guys here, I'm working out the ways I could hook up my tape deck to my console. Is there any good info on this floating around? I'm thinking of going: Mic>preamp>patch bay for comps>patched into console receives for summing>balance amps on my console (since it's all RCA/unbal.)>tape...

Was that the one that was on craigslist for awhile? In inner SE? Yes, it was. It's in great condition and is very clean. As long as everything keeps working for at least the next couple weeks, I'll be very happy. Thanks for the info! Keep the ribbon mics away from the tapes and the tape deck! Wow, ...

Well, I got lucky and acquired a very beautiful MX5050 from an awesome guy who knows Larry and the guys next door at Hamptone. He gave me head cleaner, a used tape with some room left on it, and a brand new reel all for around the price of what i would've paid to just SHIP the MX70 here. I'm very ha...

Not many recording pictures lately. Mostly just the piggy. I'll be posting more as I pick up my MX5050 tomorrow, and start building an 1176 soon.

Just placed my order for a Vin-Jet with Lundahl. I couldn't pass up the B-stock special going on right now. I'm crossing my fingers hoping I won't be disappointed.
