I gave up running, for Lent, in 1998 or so.

On a whim, I once set a file to MP3, decode to WAV, re-MP3, decode, on and on. After a day or so, I had a silent file.

Wow, I was reading the Yamaha Handbook in high school, I thought you were dealing with like 12 year olds. Err, I think probably just trolling the manuals of every piece of audio gear you plan to use would be the best way, Yamaha were one of the few to gather it all together, but I mean look at all t...

Are you teaching high school students, here. College grads, 11 year olds? What are you wanting them to take away from the class? Is it a single class or a course?

You mean difficult because of finding a common point, or difficult because of wow and flutter causing the two sets of tracks to drift?

4-Track on a 2-Track

I thought there was a topic on this before, but I can't seem to find it. How feasible is it to play back 4-track tapes on a 2-track system into a DAW? I have a friend with a bunch of old 4-track demos he wants digitized, I have a 2-track deck hooked to my DAW. Is it as simple as playing the tape for...

I don't think a good room is going to be the thing? Re-amping for reverb is different from re-recording, so it won't be the same as playing the drums in a good room . I think what you are looking for is a live sounding space, like a tiled bathroom, a chamber, a stairway, maybe even a garage with a b...

I just use mine as preamps, no routing.

I was going to build a little preamp box to replace it, then I bought some condenser mics and was too lazy to figure out phantom power.

My cat likes to sleep on it, or the other mixer which is covered with a towel.

Can you repot humming mains transformers?

I mean you can pot microphonic pickups, why not transformers, except for the lethal voltages, risk of fire, etc.

I had a mixer that had audible hum, and I removed the transformer and housed it in a separate enclosure, there were too many separate voltages to build a new one for me. If your problem is like wall-wart style transformers buzzing, build one that doesn't or find someone to build you one. Hopefully t...

I only encountered a blue hydraulic skin once, someone had swiped it off a tom to put on a snare, it was the worst sounding thing on the planet, it would ring for days, gel and tape wouldn't shut it up, I had to use a physical damper and clamp it on. http://thumbs1.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/mM0pWaA6Ss...
