Re: Taking a specific vocal sound to live settings

Pick up a mixing link or something similar,so FOH can have 1 dry,1 wet,and you will need 2 seperate monitor mixes, for each. If you have crazy mid boost stuff or distortion stuff in your desired thing,it can be pure hell (as a FOH guy) to give you what you want. Other option is a powered monitor on s...

Re: Mixing a band with a single, mono electric guitar

Dry and room mic panned center,or just crossed off center. Delay the room mic depending on song tempo. Aux send off room mic to modulated doubler/delay panned to opposite side of B.Vox/Perc/Hi Hat.

Re: Monitor dilemma

Always hated mixing on Ns-10's. Never translates, Unless it hurts your ears in the upper midrange ,and you cant hear low bass,or anything above 8 k,they are useless. I love my Tannoy pbm 6.5's. Those things REQUIRE you to mix with audible deep bass, and shiny-sheen on top. Yes the midrange is tucked ...

Re: Standalone portastudios

+1 on the Korg D3200. I've got one I added the 2seemy video adaptor to it,so I don't hafta use the tiny onboard screen-it works with any VGA monitor, and I swapped the 40 or 80 Gig onboard HD to a 240 Gig. I was using it to record band practices. Sounds really good, has a TON of onboard processing.

Re: When you love a LIMITER

for instrument tracking with occasional spazzy delivery-dbx 263 into one side of a valley people dynamite. just tickling the former, staying out of compression-just limiting with the latter. Usually heavier handed on the de esser, avoiding overs with the latter.

Do you mean the little 1/4" machine? Ive got one that works fine, couple lights out. I'll take pix of the heads tonight. Not sure how robustly it'd take shipping. Let me know. I'm still waiting for the guy who sold it to me to come buy it back-he recorded a lot of stuff with it. Pm me if you want. I ...

Re: Beyer Mic repair

Wow,thanks! Ill check them out. Its not a ribbon, but it's pretty much my fave dynamic. I dont think Ive ever had or used a Beyer that wasnt awesome.
I later bought one of the silver classic reissues, and I recall Beyer not wanting m88s used on bass drum, which is sad, cause its my fave kick mic.

Studio one midi controller

Which midi key/pad controller has the easiest/most seamlessly integrated
operation with studio one? Inquiring mind wants to know.
Thanks!

My 2 cents.... If you want fewer choices, but something that does great reverbs, find a Lexicon Pcm60 with the "UPDATE" chip. the plate and room sounds are great without the update, its push button, and its ridiculously easy to audition. I had 3,about 25 years ago, I think the update chip adds reverse/i...
