Re: Wanted: Music Internships in NYC

Oh boy! INternships aka what can you do for us sucker. I suggest lining up like 3 internships then weed em out depending on various factors. If you are looking to get hired, don't stay at the studios that just took a paycut, are struggling, just hired the owners cousin, or use you for bullshit like,...

$75 (pair) passive monitors @ music123.com

I just received and hooked up some Nady monitors for $75 (pair) from Music123.com. 2 way 6.5 woofer 120 watt 8 ohm 35Hz-20KHz speakers. Thats pretty cheap. I bought them for my family room they sound very bassy but that may be placement and the old Kenwood amp they are running off. But $75 for a pai...

Re: MC012 pads

Beware!
You can damage the diaphragm on those MC012's if you are micing loud sources, the pad doesn't prevent the diaphragm from moving too much.

Re: $300 acoustic electric guitar?

Thanks everybody. I really do appreciate yer time and advice. You da best. I was wondering about just getting a good stand alone acoustic and then putting in some good electronics. Re: $300 acoustic electric guitar?

Thanks bear,
I had read that the Washburn d10 is a great first acoustic. Most complaints I heard regarding them is the action is bad and usually needs to be fixed by a luthier. The Ibanez's from what I've read have good action straight outta the box. Takamines ay?
thanks again

Yep shoppin for one of these and would like some advice.
Been looking at Washburns, Ibanez and even Peal.
Harmony-central.com has been helpful and I am mostly concerned with good action, solid top and decent electronics.

Re: Gonna be visiting San Francisco soon

I don't think any city can top the eats that NYC has to offer. Nobody eats out as often as New Yorkers.
Thanks again for all the input folks.

Re: Gonna be visiting San Francisco soon

Wow, Thanks a lot everybody. Oodles of info regarding the city. Sounds pretty similar to NYC as far as sketchy neighborhoods, ethnic eats but probably on a slightly smaller scale. The parks sound amazing. The parks in NYC unless its in a rich neighborhood are pretty shitty or average. Central park i...

Sheeit I thought to myself, I have managed to acquire a lot of stuff and lived pretty well for 25K in NYC. Now I ought to get up to 35K or more. Should be OK in SF...

Re: Does cheap gear=sweatshop labor?

I agree with sonichue, This "sweatshop" thing seems to be part of the natural progression for any capitalistic society. The USA went through it during the industrial age (look up triangle factory fire NYC seamstresses burned to death in sweatshop because fire exits were locked. Boss didn't want them...
