Another possibility is to get a decent omni mic and use it in front of her face as an "overhead" - it will pick up the voice but also get the kit without undue nasty off-axis color. This could work if the kit playing is reasonable and she isn't cymbal-bashing while singing.

I second the Haptone Jfet if you can solder. I use it for kick and snare and really like the density it gives. I don't really distort it - used conservatively it can be quite clean.

calling shennanigans on the eminence warning - those speakers are fine, I have done hundreds of gigs on them mixed with old JBL's and they are plenty rugged within their ratings. On the other hand - I can't recall ever using a Peavy speaker that sounded like anything I liked.
