That dub setting for bass is a MONSTER. Never realized how much my bass was mudding up my mixes until now.

Thank you for the tip!

I dug and finally found this - does this make sense?

Tube swapping isn't a bad idea at all - I will try that next.

crazy amp problem

For lack of a better forum, I'm posting my question here. so I'm tracking a band and we're having a sound come through the amp that sounds like a helicopter. Not real loud - the playing seems to mask it, but I don't really want to use a defective or broken amp on the recording...it just doesn't sit ...

should I upgrade?

I've been running 10.3 on my 1.25 G4 w / PT LE 6.9 for a while now. Well now pro tools won't open...or it will but the second I try to access anything useful, it freezes. Which brings me to my question. I wonder if now might be a good time to move to 10.4 and PT 7.3 or whatever still supports the G4...

right on - I had a workaround planned - track everything w/ the 002 and then buy a mbox mini when they stopped supporting it and mix w/ that plugged in running a higher version. $300 < $1200.

I think I may have dodged a bullet and may not have to re-buy my software after all - just re-download, which is not that big a deal.

I'd expect my gripes to be back when digi phases out my 002 within the next 6 months.

Well that was the point of the rant - I couldn't get Ozone or Maxim or Trash to work on my macbook so I checked duc and found this: http://duc.digidesign.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=1147992&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=7&fpart=1#1147992 So obviously the duc post is at least partially wrong since yo...

Pro Tools Gripe

Oh look what a surprise - another pissed off Pro Tools user! This is old news to most of you I'm sure, but I did an upgrade from 6.9 to 7whatever only to find out I can't use my favorite old plug ins. I have to re-buy these things all over again? This is UNACCEPTABLE. I'm getting very, very c...

You don't need to revert back - just download this combo installer and it should overwrite your problem.

WOW. I am totally blown away by these responses. I couldn't possibly respond to them all but I can thank all of you for your input. Thank you VERY much. I think the first thing I'm going to do is take a little break while my 002 goes into Black Lion. Then I'm going to get back to doing better work. ...

Is it time to hang it up?

I took some mixes over to a mentor type and listened to them and they were god awful. It was really embarassing - especially since I thought I'd left the studio with something I could show-off. The hi-hats and cymbals too over-powering. Too much reverb. Snare sounded really really weak. Bass guitar ...

Instead of lofi, Maybe thats the new vocal cliche: reverse reverb If you're talking about the "flip the tape, record a track of insanely thick reverb and then flip back" ...that's...not...really...new...? Or is there a new effect called reverse reverb that I don't know about? (It's a cool effect th...

a hundred bucks is 'kinda salty'? are you sure you're in the right line of work? Ha - no, I meant for a guy just starting up. I have a long list of wants and a G.B. is on there for sure but I can think of better ways to spend 100 bucks...that's just me though. I agree w/ the distorted vocals being ...

That was really fun.

88.9% Correct

I thought some parts were very hard though. I really like that you can go back and listen again to the ones that you got wrong. Some of them still sound different or same to me - heh heh.
