That's funny. One of the guys I've been going to uses it as a selling point. I think his analog signal chain sounds fantastic, way better than if he stayed ITB. He of course agrees. Sure it "sounds" better, in a cosmetic kind of way, you're running the mix through some awesome hardware! Problem is,...

a totally routine practice in mastering. how is this "incredibly disappointing"? Because,, no, those billions of bits of code DO NOT fall back into the exact same spaces, ,, and the end-result is a much thinner-sounding product. If we were working without actual "digits", (i.e. a linear medium), th...

+9 on the 635a, it's awwwwwesome, and they're STILL being made! For Cheap! Super creamy, brown electric gtrs,,, awesome background vocals, (awesome "background" anything, really), awesome room mic, super unique, totally versitile and incredibly "blendable" with other mics. They are round and smooth ...

AT Pro37r vs. "Alice" by Scott Helmke

For the price it's probably worth just having both, but for some reason I'm still trying to decide between the two. Don't necessarily need them OH's, but rather, for general applications from various sources that would require a stereo field, (i.e. Room Sounds, Symphonic Sounds, Nature, Natural Reve...

Try also --- transferring at half speed! Works especially well with "found" tapes of church Christmas recitals...not that I would know! I've always wanted to experiment with that. I feel strongly that, if one would lock the sync/clock/whatever in just right, you could get some seriously Hifi stuff ...

I began my career as a mastering engineer entirely out of resource. As a mixing engineer, I was getting sooooo fed-up with sending my mixes off for mastering, and having them come back sounding far too "safe" and much worse then I sent them, that's NOT real mastering! Finally, I decided start sittin...

Transfer From Tape BACKWARDS For Bigger Punch!

I just heard about this old trick that engineers used to do when doing tape xfers, (2-track to 2-track, multitrack to digital, 2-track to digital, etc.),,, try transfering in reverse! The attack of all elements will be significantly increased and pronounced because the source you're xfering to will ...

Anyone got any more info on this? Were there different xformers or vca's used? Anything like that? Any noticeable differences? I would be hard pressed to use two of these in stereo, (unlinked), of different builds.

I dunno, cold biasing an amp kinda chokes the life out of the signal. maybe that's only at the extremes ? Agreed, guess I'm trying to find a good compromise. I'd make the switch to solid-state but I just cannot get past how directional they project, a good tube amp just seems to fill the room, and ...

Try and figure out what year it is. But most important I guess is what condition it's in, and how it feels/sounds when you play it It's a 2009, it's in nearly perfect condition, and it plays and sounds amazing. $450, I figure that can't go wrong either way. I'm sure with a pickup upgrade it would b...

Gibson Les Paul Studio Guitars

About to pick this up. Taking the amp out of the equation, do you guys ever have trouble getting usable, solid sounds from these? Can't go wrong with a real Les Paul, right? Would a pick-up replacement be worth considering?

Rawk!

Thanks for the awesome replies guys, sorry I changed the post to avoid conflict.
The closest I've come was a Fender Twin that had been modified
You know, my friend had a Fender "Evil" Twin with red knobs and tons of routing options, that kinda comes to mind as well.

Versitile Tube Amps That Are Super Clean

Looking for a very clean tube amp that is versatile and takes effects/pedals/distortion well, any suggestions?
