That is exactly what I wanted to hear. Maybe there's a mod to make them quieter.

Smashy, on the cheap: that oddly shaped, blue Alesis compressor they had out for a few years. i forget what it's name was. it could get pretty nasty. The Alesis Smashup. You know, it WAS on the list, but I guess that it can't be used in parrallel because of a delay in the signal. The whole thing ki...

Yep, I'm planning on using the smashers for some very aggressive non-synth samples. I plan on doing a lot of smashing in parrallell. Curious, which "one or two great compressors" would you recommend in the 1k range?

I bet it works.
You bet your a$$ it does, very well in fact. Super squishy and musical. A good bit noisy, but probably unlike anything else out there, IF you can find one. I won't be parting with mine for anything less than $150. Seriously.

Art Pro VLA II vs HBB Fatman

Are you guys familiar with these HHB Fatmans? Seems like it would be a good competitor in the same price range. There is a parts list (with prices) right on the article you linked to. Can you please post a link to the URL? My browser doesn't show it for some reason :( This is awesome news, Been waiting for a cheap alternative to run my mics & tracks through all kinds of stompboxes and old Hi-Z gear. Awesome.

It would be awesome to reamp on the cheap, anyone ever tried this? How much does it cost in the end? Is there somewhere I can find a parts list? Would anyone recommend using a better transformer?
