Thanks for all the feedback guy, greatly appreciated indeed. How come THIS http://i973.photobucket.com/albums/ae215/analogsoundstudio/2012-06-27_1004.png terminal doesn't have anything connected to it in the diagram, yet that's where the pink wire seems to be connected on my mic? Another diagram. Ye...

That wiring is correct, based on this diagram.
According to that diagram, wouldn't the pink wire be soldered to the tab closest to the black wire? I just tried that combination and am no longer receiving output. Maybe the black/pink need to be switched around?

Correct RE20 / PL20 Wiring

I just got a great deal on a pl20 cause the guy took it apart to change the foam and then forgot which wires went where. Here is a pic of the current incorrect wiring, (pink/black go to capsule, red goes to pin 2, green to pin 3, pin 1 is jumpered to ground). What's the CORRECT places these wires go...

Bad Power Transformer On Hamptone JFET?

I love this thing but it stopped working after about a week, I kind of a newb and Scott doesn't seem eager to help me troubleshoot so here I am. Neither audio channel is working, the pilot light does not come on, but the 48v phantom power lights light-up when pressed. I tested the psu according to t...

Mic Capsule Damage

I was removing the plastic HF dampening from an Oktava MKL2500 and just barely dented, (just barely!), the capsule's outer clear, thin-plastic cover with a small flathead screwdriver, should I be concerned about it? Should I consider replacing it? Where could I even find one!?!

Moviola URS "Squawk Box" Mods

Have one coming in soon and I'd like to get a jump on any modifications needed to turn it into a very fine guitar amp, it looks like an original, (not the co-branded Magnasync ones, not sure if that's a good thing or not). Aside from adding a three prong after draining the caps, (grounding out to th...

What specs to look for in a used Mac?

About to search for a used macintosh in the $1k-or-less range and need some info regarding which year/model/features to be on the lookout for. Which specs should I be looking at? Fast processor and lot's of internal memory? Desktop or laptop? What types of in's/out's would be desirable? Running Logi...

Mics For Capturing,,, Intimacy?

So I'll be on the set at this REALLY hot porn shoot all next week and I was wondering which SDC or Shotgun would most accurately capture a female vocal from upside down while she's giving a two dudes a - Psych! Whispers fellas,, what's good for capturing whispers and intimate vocal deliveries? Like,...

John Hardy. Thanks! (Now, OP, that is how you ask for a preamp suggestion, use adjectives! ;) ) The 610 sounds somewhat "wooly" from what I've gathered, and if that's what you're after, I'd suggest the Peavey VMP-2, (don't mind the name), it's an amazing sleeper tube pre. If clean, color for use on...

What color you are after. Then I'll tell you what you need. Not to derail the thread, but I'm on the prowl for a clean, stackable preamp around $1k street with some sparkle, the closest thing I've found is the Forssell SMP-2, which sounds less detailed and "earthy" but more sparkly and prettier tha...

I use gated reverbs ALL THE TIME! As far as I am concerned, the discovery of gated-reverb was conceived in the 80's, and it just so happens that, much like the excessive use of CGI in film, the practice got ran into the ground and eventually became a joke of itself. Don't underestimate the actual id...
