Re: Anybody wishing they had a project.

I truly love my Yamaha CP70. It's a dream to play. They suck to move but I don't care what anyone says, I would rather lug that all day long than have to play a single chord on a Roland RD700 or the like. It was also a great little thing to have while living in an apartment. I could play first thing...

Re: Looking for physical TapeOp magazines

Hey - I'm so sorry. I don't have the internet at my house and I don't really use it all that much. Wasn't trying to be rude! How much do you think the boxes weigh? What's your zip code? If you want to PM me with that too and let me know what you'd want for them. In the meantime I will also look into...

Looking for physical TapeOp magazines

Hi dudelingers, When TapeOp stopped shipping magazines to Canada, I stopped getting the physical magazines. I really like them, I don't do so well reading on the computer. Can someone sell me at a reasonable price some physical copies? I can't remember exactly when they stopped shipping to Canada, b...

Still bummed about no Canadian delivery

Hey All - I'm just still so bummed that I can't get the magazine delivered to Canada. I would honestly pay a premium. I don't do well reading on the computer and miss reading and re-reading and re-re-reading my Tape Op magazines.

I'm eternally bummed.

Endless Bummer.

Digital Subscription

I'm so bummed I can't get a paper copy of the magazine here in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia Canada. I'd seriously pay double, perhaps triple what I used to pay just to be able to have a copy again.

How to capture a great sounding room

Hey Folks - Perhaps this isn't in the correct space. Please feel free to move it if necessary. There is a club in the town that I live in, that to my ears, has the best sounding acoustics of any place I've ever been. It's my favourite place to sing, strum a guitar, or even listen to a bottle smash. ...

I like to try a bunch of different snares - keep changing them until I get the right sound. Often times I find that things I expect not to like are the right thing for the track. If I go through a couple snares that don't work, I'll change mic set up. +1 on parallel drum compression. Probably my fav...

Recording Vocals with Confidence

Hey Folks - Was in the studio recording vocals yesterday for a client who wanted to re-cut some vocals that were recorded in a rush before he left for a few months of touring this fall - but I had a whole lot of trouble with it. I just couldn't find confidence in what we were accomplishing. Here's t...

Thanks so much. I am grateful for the advice and will likely dish the cash for the upgrade.

I'm sure that it's worth it - just hard to justify for a hobbiest like myself sometimes.

As always, I appreciate the advice and expertise.

-Gus.

Trying to get an old OS on a new Mac

Every day's a struggle. I have a macbook pro running OSX 10.7.5 and Protools 9. I just got a new iMac running Yosemite which won't work with PT9. I want to partition the hard drive and run another bootable disc with OSX 10.7.5 on it. I have partitioned the drive and have a bootable USB with OSX 10.7...
