Soundcraft 600 output issues diagnosis help

For some time I have had an issue with the left side master output on my SC600. It has been slightly distorted and lacking in bass. (The module, entire board actually, has been completely recapped, fyi) I traced the issue back to IC5A or 5B. Upon replacing 5B the problem was solved, though now the o...

Finding a good machine is pure luck these days, as the best rule is never buy anything you cannot take a look at and test in person. It took me 2 years to find the right machine within driving distance (which for me meant a 20 hour drive) Also, heads are the machine, to that end a good deck is only ...

FS/FT: Ampex 601 Tube Pre // AKG C3000B

Ampex 601 Tube Preamp. Professionally converted. XLR in, balanced TRS output, 1/4" instrument input, pad, meter bypass switch. Warm analog goodness. In Portland, OR, local sale preferred as I don't relish the idea of trying to ship this thing, but if you want to take the chance and pony up for shipp...

It's economics. One of the principal factors that drove the digital revolution in the first place was simply how much cheaper it was than using tape and maintaing those big old tape machines. Today, however, this argument is fast becoming null and void. In a dollar for dollar comparison with digital...

And regardless, a Hakko 808 will make your life so much easier! Repairing PCB gear is less of a headache with one. Tell me about it! Believe it or not I did all 24 channels with a decent quality Weller iron and a solder bulb for sucking up the old solder. Got pretty quick with it there by the end, ...

A bath for my channel strips?

My Soundcraft 600 is dirty. And old. I got it for a steal, recapped it and fell in love with how it sounds, but man! DEERRRTEEE switches and pots. After a good cleaning with DeOxit most of them work for a time (I replaced any that saw no improvement with cleaning, btw) but always the snap/crackle/po...

FT/FS: Otari MX70 Parts (looking for 1" 8T heads)

Hi folks. I've got an Otari MX70 parts machine. Not looking to get rid of the whole thing, hoping to part it out to those in need and get some goods in trade or cash for other stuff. Pinch roller is bad. Record head is shot. Erase and playback heads might be salvageable. 10 mostly older channel card...

Soundcraft 600 group bus noise

Hello all. I'm using the tape returns on my SC600 for exactly that, they are routed through the 8 group modules and normalled to each channel. THEY ARE SOOO NOISY it's killing me. It's like a low end rumble... like someone in another room is talking on the phone really loud but it's in another room ...

FS/FT (2)Beyer M500s (Portland, OR)

I have for sale or trade 2 Beyer Dynamic M500 ribbon mics. One of them has been re-ribboned by Beyer, the other is, to my knowledge, original. Both of them sound great. Price is $300ea or $550 for the pair. Trade value should be in line with these prices or should include commensurate cash to round ...

FS: Earthworks SRO (TC20) matched pair (Portland, OR)

Lightly used great sounding mics. I'm selling them because recapping my console is going to cost a lot and this will go a long way towards covering it! Located in Portland OR, would prefer a local sale, though might be open to other ideas if you just gotta have 'em. $675obo. Thanks!
