M/S on the mix - am I doing it right?

Hi everyone, I'm looking for info on M/S mixing. I've been experimenting and I like the results, but I want to be sure I'm doing it right (or best I can). I've been experimenting with the Waves Center plug-in, setting up an Effects Rack in Ableton - one "chain" is just the center, the other "chain" ...

They walked past all my guitars, all my mics which were up on stands, and went right for the jar of nickels I had on my desk. They got about $60 in change, two tvs, and unfortunately my passport and possibly some checks. When our house was broken into, they went to my studio and stole...an Alesis m...

Nice! To my knowledge, it's not uncommon to include a "quote" sheet of rave reviews about your CD/band/artistic ability to use for booking, more reviews, etc.

Thanks all - yeah, using laptops for space-saving. The room is weirdly shaped, but suffice to say right now there's no excess room for desktops (probably...hmm...) Do you all think Reaper and Audacity lend themselves to "loop-based" production? I have Audacity, and I think if you made the loops in d...

Noisy jazz mashups

Just finished this experimental and noisy mini-album layering jazz standards on top of each other; I found it to be oddly compelling so I'm sharing it in the hopes others get a kick out of it as well: http://natetrier.bandcamp.com/ This is all in the box, so not a lot of "creative recording" going o...

Building a school's laptop DAW lab on a budget

Hey all, I want to start a music production club/program/class something at the high school where I'll start teaching in the fall. As you might imagine, budget/tech is an issue, so I was hoping the smart people here could help me brainstorm. Right now they have one computer that the music and visual...

Whoops - heh, I responded to a post on the original page not realizing it was over 3 months old. Look, for what it's worth, I've had a similar experience with keyboard gear. I'd go to the Harmony Central keyboard forums and these cats would be posting pics and gear lists that I could roughly estimat...

In my band we just made it a priority to write/learn 2+ hours of material. I'm sort of surprised to hear about the 45 min thing. But yeah, playing in bars is brutal. It's especially brutal for us because we're all "family men" and our friends & fans are all parents, so nobody wants to stay out from ...
