Recorded this weekend at John Baccigaluppi's new spot in Sac

https://soundcloud.com/meatballmulligan/swell-reggae-song Very cool sounding room with lots of nooks and crannies and stairwells for ambient mics. Also, for being the "budget" version of the two new studios built from the remains of the Hangar, I can say that there's nothing "budget" about the mics,...

I can get a great tone through Acoustic 450 heads and a 406 (2x15) "long throw" cab. Fender Jazz with flats and a pick, though I'd love to try a Ric. For Sgt. Pepper-esque sounds I find that Thomastik Infeld strings are the best. I've tried Pyramid, Rotosound, and D'Addario, but the TI jazz flats ar...

A song that feels good

https://soundcloud.com/meatballmulligan/way-it-goes

A friend wrote this. I contributed bass, drums, and percussion, in addition to all engineering.

To me it sounds like a cross between Supertramp and Jack Johnson. Turn it up loud, I hope you enjoy.

Comments welcome.

it is distorting while padded - what is the inverse square law? If you double the distance from the source, the level will drop by 6 db. Assuming that sound pressure follows the inverse square law, doubling the distance will reduce level by 12 db. y = x^2 (initial condition) y = (2x)^2 = 4x^2 (twic...

DBX 242 EQ - $160 shipped CONUS

Great shape, only flaw is cosmetic - the front plate has a plastic transparency that is peeling around the corners. Selling because I'm not using it on the front end like I thought I would - same as the Aphex 661 I've put up for sale. Will trade for: RME Multiface I + cash on my end $160 shipped to ...

I have this unit and I love mine. Has algos like tiled room from more famous Lexis, and I really like its cab emulation for bringing DI signals to life. $200 is a great price.

Blazing on a Sunny Afternoon

My first effort. Kinks cover, what do you think? Of the music on one hand, of the recording/mix on the other. Not mastered.
