Too lazy to check the whole thread, and I'm sure it's already been said: EV 664! I used to tape one to the underside of the drummer's throne, and it made for a very cool, quasi old school drum sound.

Agreed with everything above. The m69 is smooth and level-sounding - not much peakyness. If the source is good, the m69 will allow it come through, but I've never felt like it's going to give you something that's not already there. The m201 shapes the source sound a bit more.
