Interfaces for analog mixing?
Hey guys. I've been thinking about getting an analog mixer and some outboard gear and mixing that way, but I was wondering what type of interface people are using for this type of set up. The interface I have is a MOTU 8pre, which I believe I can hang two ADAT interfaces off of for 16 channels out t...

Ugh. Why? They use those awful things as the trial by fire at my school, since tape is too expensive now. But basically the lesson you learn is "thankfully we don't have to do this anymore." Awful button-pushy things. Ha! HA! HAHAHAHAHA! Thankfully, you'll likely not be doing any harm in the real w...

Got it! I was really getting upset about this whole thing. I really do love this guitar. I bought some surgical tubing at Home Depot today ($15 for 10 ft! WTF!) and replaced the springs. No luck. I melted down four candles in a double boiler setup and potted the stock pickup. Et voila! Microphonics ...

99% of the time a Tele bridge pickup is microphonic, it's not the coil but rather the baseplate. There's a metal plate on the bottom of the pickup that influences the pickup's sound. If this is even slightly loose and subject to vibration, it's squeal-city. Address that, and I'm sure your problem w...

Telecaster Microphonic Bridge Pickup
I know a guitar specific forum may be a more appropriate place for this sort of topic, but there are a lot of very stupid people on guitar forums. I've got a late 90s American Standard Telecaster. I love this guitar. Some time between my last band braking up and my new one starting, the bridge picku...

Guitar amp tube compliment vs. power
This is a question that's been bothering me for a while. How is the tube compliment of an amplifier related to its output power? I have a 15 watt 70s Princeton Reverb that has two 6L6s for the power section. I'm looking at getting a 40 watt Hot Rod Deluxe that also has two 6L6s. The 60 watt Deville ...

Beatles Mics?
I haven't been able to find any info on this in my searches and conversations. In old clips of the Beatles both on stage and in the studio, they use these mics with long (2-4 foot), skinny necks with a small ball capsule on the end. Does anyone know what kind of mics these were?

What about Raw Power by Iggy and the Stooges? People have bitched about that one forever and then Iggy goes in remixes it and actually made it worse! Also there are a lot of would be great records that someone needs to go in and scrape the 80s off of. Some early Kinks albums could have use ...
