i've used a large keyboard bag with great success. carried 6-8 mic stands plus speaker stands. worked like a charm

i've been using a wrs 4424 in my low budget project studio. pre's are decent sounding, especially if you overdrive them just a bit. eq's are a little dark. never had a problem in the 2+ yrs i've had it. paid $400 for mine

so, i usually start with the drums and get the kit sounding right. to do that, i start with the kick, then add the snare, followed by the overheads and any other channels you have. i listen for balance and width and try to make it sound like the kit i recorded. usually bass is next and then the rest...
