Thanks!
Appreciate hearing everyone's opinion on the topic. I definitely think cables/gear factor into it, but I was wondering more about the idea of what we're hearing vs what we're actually hearing. There's a parallel in life drawing, people have an idea of what a person looks like. That's why kids always...

Guitar sounds - real vs recorded vs imagined
First off, let me say this isn't really a fully-formed thought. More of of a question/discussion I was having with myself. I started thinking the other day about how maybe the recorded history of the electric guitar has probably changed the way we hear the instrument in real life, and maybe has chan...

Re: 3 ply Broadkasters are the shit
Somebody should buy these. I have a 40's Gretsch kit, and nothing sounds like it. So woody and fat sounding. Seriously. totally agree. the kick is out of control, and the snare has a very, very thick shell. sounds brighter than you expect, really amazing sounding. i'm only selling because i came ac...

1940's Gretsch 3-piece round badge - $500
I have a 3-piece Gretsch kit from the 40s. Cosmetics are kind of a project although I've been playing them as-is for years without any problems. I don't have any photos of the kit assembled, but you can see the drums on the shelf next to the farfisa at the bottom of the page: http://www.forestcityst...

Roland Space Echo RE-150
Very clean Roland Space Echo RE-150. This is one of the versions with tape delay only, no spring reverb. I'm the 2nd owner, very good condition. Might need a new tape, I used 201loops.com tape, and can hear the splice.

fwiw, i got a used pearlman tm2 on this board, and it's been pretty amazing on some vocalists, acoustic guitar and drum room. the top end is very nice, not harsh. it also has a low pass filter that can help control the top. $950 new.

oh man, they're really affordable for what they are. i think around $120? Pretty amazing pedal. I've been loving it, trying a stripped down approach with just the freeze, B Sharp music fuzz and echoplex.

Garage convert
Totally agree with James. Use the whole space. Read the Gervais book too, amazing info. Here's my diary on the Sayers forum for the garage I converted:

Great work! I've been watching your thread over at the Sayers forum. However, how did you make your window plugs? I've got two big windows that let a lot of street noise in... don't want to permanently block them off cause sunshine is nice at times. Thanks! Yes, it's been quite a journey to say the...
