sansamp, cheap mixer, misc for sale
I'm doing some fundraising towards this 52 tele I've got my eye on. Prices negotiable. Make me an offer.. Tangent 1202ax mixing console. 12x2 w/power supply. 3 band eq, 3 sends on each channel. I'd like to sell this in the new england area, as it's pretty heavy, but I'd be willing to split the shipp...

I used an MT8X for years and was very happy with it. Very durable as well.

Re: cheap amps
lots of good suggestions here. i was looking for a low cost 1-12" combo to record and play out occasionally with, and a friend of mine who worked at univibe in berkeley recommended a 60s ampeg reverberocket. i found one for $350 (reverberocket II) and have been in love with it ever since. amazing re...

Re: Pioneer SR-101 Tube Spring Reverb (OT?)
a friend of mine had one of those, but i don't remember how it sounded because the green light on the front was so cool. kind of a psychedelic vu meter. i have a furman rv-1 that i like pretty well (for the price) but is kind of buzzy. need to check out some mods to upgrade. i also like the radio sh...

Re: Hollow Vocal Sound....please help
how far are they from the mike? if you want a proximity effect bass boost, they have to be pretty close. if you're tracking in small rooms and your vocalist is 2-4' away, you're going to hear the sound of a small room. try boosting at 200hz ala the tape op eq article. might warm it up a little. good...

Re: nick drake and mic pre used to record pink moon
i read nick drakes biography, but can't find it now to refer to. i know the legend is that he left the final master at the record company without announcing himself, and it was a few days before they realized he had delivered the new album. this implies that he recorded the album himself, but i want...

Complete Beatles Recording Sessions Book
Just a heads up. A friend of mine found paperback copies of this sadly out of print book at borders (in portland, maine), in their cut out section no less. Very cheap. The weird thing is that the copyright for the printing is 2004. The cover is different, but he compared the contents to an original ...

Re: QOTSA "Songs for the deaf" Sessions
a version of the cd came with a dvd that showed some of the recording process. one of my favorite shots is of a huge row of combo amps. goes to show you don't need to bring your marshall stack into the studio for big sounds.

Re: Creative Acoustic Reverb...
i think norman petty used his attic as an echo chamber when recording buddy holly's "peggy sue". same idea, speaker at one end and a mic at the other. there's also a story about lee hazelwood running around in the country banging on grain silos to find the right one for duane eddy's guitar.

Re: WTB Analog Delay Pedal
one to look for might be the ibanez adl. it's part of the kind of goofy 80s master series line, but supposedly has the same circuitry as the older "9 series". anyway, they can be picked up pretty cheaply and sound great.

Re: BEST MONITORS MONEY CAN BUY!
Glad to hear some opinions on the b&ws. I've used 602 series 1s as my living room speakers for a few years, and always test mixes on them. They are fantastic speakers for the money, i think. Any thoughts on "flat" vs "colored" regarding speakers for mixing? I've never used the b&w's for mixing think...
