Re: Question about monitoring / bass levels
Hey everyone, thanks so much for the input. I've taken more time with these speakers, and decided to try some mixes on them. It turns out the "not enough bass" issue is me just being used to bass at a certain level. I also did some homework, and it turns out my Yamaha Sub is designed to pair to a se...

Re: Question about monitoring / bass levels
Thanks for the input. My analysis is a bit unofficial, but consists of playing pink noise off the console / pro tools with a LPF in/out to see how the bass reacts around different places in the room. In addition, I play back a bunch of songs that I'm really familiar with to hear the differences betw...

Question about monitoring / bass levels
Hey everyone, hope this post is in the right forum. I recently got a pair of JBL 4311b speakers. They have excellent clarity and presence, but I feel like they're lacking bass. I work out of a couple different studios. One uses NS-10m with a Yamaha NS-W2 sub. The other has NS-10m with no sub, and al...

Re: Ramsa wr- t820
Hey there, This was the first console I ever owned. I used it in conjuction with a 16 i/o PTLE system. I didn't really have much to compare it to because i was such a novice at the time. Now, after working on different and much better consoles, I can say that the ramsa was definately a good value. T...

Looking for older TDM/RTAS Massey Demos
Hey everyone. I run an older Pro Tools 8 HD3 system on windows believe it or not. I had the Massey Demos for a while, and liked them a lot. One day, the plugins were just magically gone. The studio does not have internet access, and the computer has literally never even been connected to the interne...

Thanks for the input. Yes, I swapped the 17-18 card for another, and the problem still remains on ch 17. Head looks good and is clean. A tech told me that the next thing to do is swap the head preamp cards. Has anyone ever done this? I can't seem to figure out if they're supposed to come out the top...

Question about studer 827 output.
Hey everyone, I'm working on a Studer 827, and all is well, except for one problem. One of the channels, 17, is putting out a very low signal, but just on the REPRO head. If I switch to SYNC, it's fine. I'm testing with MRL tape, different speeds, etc. I've reseated the big CH 17/18 module at the bo...

Hello again everyone. I have an update. I got a SYNC I/O and hooked it up. I recorded time code (LTC) to one channel on the studer 827. Then, I switched the clock source in pro tools to LTC (4 - smoothest), and sure enough, PT slaves to the tape machine. Exactly what I was wanting to do. However, so...

Syncing a 2'' machine to PT or Sequencer
Hey everyone, I hope this post is in the right spot. What I'm wanting to do is an experimental project, mainly being an older style electronic song. I'll be recording to a studer 827, but using PT to trigger my drum machines, and bass synth, and most likely lead synths, pads etc. From what I gather ...

Interesting. I need to find the actual CD to hear it in 16 bit. After recapping some modules, I notice a very slight difference in the sound. There is more low bass, better transient response, and overall a brighter sound. The difference is more noticeable when I engage the EQ (same settings) on two...

I use a 201 pretty regularly. It doesn't sound like yours is too far out or anything. First thing to try would be ordering a new tape loop online, or making your own out of some new 1/4'' tape. Look up re-201 tape loop on ebay. I've found that NOS tape just sheds and starts dropping out. I think tha...

Thanks everyone very much for the help and information so far. Yes, I found that it is in fact a bi-polar capacitor. Labeled "B". It is an input module from a tascam m-600. From what I gather the date code on the caps could mean 86 or 96. Not sure when mine was made, but the manual does say copyrigh...
