FS: UTC A-10 Audio Input Transformer Mic Preamp DI LA-2A

For sale is a vintage UTC A-10 Transformer. These were used as the input transformer in the original LA-2A compressors. They sound great as a passive DI (like the motown DI) or as the input transformer for a mic preamp. Tested to be working. $148 + 11 for shipping (159 total out the door). This is t...

Re: Buck Owens show--impressed by the sound of the EV 666

if you're looking for that flat "hifi" sound in a dynamic go no further than an Electro Voice RE-55 or PL-9. frequency response charts and info linked below, there are no sennheiser treble bumps, that's flat baby!

Re: Buck Owens show--impressed by the sound of the EV 666

I'm a little obsessed with these mics. Have a pair of 666, a pair of 665, and ~ five 664. They're all a little different, one of these days I need to do a proper shootout and thin the herd. I have selected one 665 as what I like best for most things drum related (usually kick, heart, floor tom). Te...

Re: Behringer Model D and surrounding Behringer atmosphere

Well I never ended up canceling my Sweetwater preorder that I placed way back in June so guess I’m getting a second one tomorrow. Will find out if duophonic is a gimmick I suppose, or Pan both hard, or stereo processor... i've listened to youtube vids of a guy who chained 6 slim phatty's together f...

DIY modding/fixing of gear, what voltages are dangerous?

Hello - I've recently gotten into doing some small DIY stuff, i built my own "Motown DI" with an UTC A-10 Transformer and a Bud Box. Was fun. I've read many times over don't work on Tube Amps because they contain lethal voltages (unless you know how), so i'm here to ask what else is lethal? Like cou...

Re: Behringer Model D and surrounding Behringer atmosphere

i still can't believe Moog slipped up and let their patent expire, Bob must have been rolling in his grave. I’m not an expert on the matter but my understanding is that in the US at least, a patent cannot be renewed, it becomes public domain. I didn’t think Bob had much interest in revisiting the p...

Re: Quincy Jones interview

honestly it sounds like he is getting high on his own fame. the amount of insane name dropping and outrageous story telling, not to mention bashing the beatles (and i'm not a beatles fan myself) just comes off as holier than thou. talented? yes, but if it weren't for those artists he'd be just anoth...

Well they sure hide them well enough... Are they made of black paper or something?
they are well hidden, google search "v72 inside" and you'll see transformers and 2 tubes in there.

Re: Always been curious about this preamp

These are to be used in an enclosure, which provides it power, and you can put input and output volume controls, along with phantom power (if the unit version supports it), etc. They are best paired with tube powered microphones. Because these mic preamps are solid state. that's incorrect, the V72 ...
