Re: Non-functionnal reel-to-reel: should I fix before selling?

selling an item as "just serviced" and including the receipt will yield a substantial bonus to your selling price. with old tech like these, most of the people who buy it don't know how to fix it, and don't know anyone who can. they want working condition, and IME will pay top dollar for it. on the ...

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....

this overpriced, faceless corporate tech bro, shit hole that Seattle has become. damn, i didn't realize it had gone to shit that fast. it was a cool funky city, i loved seattle, beautiful nature too. sad to hear they lost their soul. probably raze the hendrix museum and put up some monument to Bezo...

Re: Reverb issues

I'm confused. What was the issue with the amp? and if it's not visible, then is it something you can hear, on a video? So, make a video with your phone, and you're done. yeah, non issue here. reverb does the video thing to verify you're a real person and not a scammer. i've done it many times, qual...

Re: How to structure a multi-part session

I find number 2 to be the most enjoyable. it helps with keeping things present and in the moment song wise. Once the full bands takes are done, it acts as a reset/relax/break for everyone because you round robin the vocals/overdubs. also you get an early win, 1 song is in the can, which builds confi...

also Mark i think you are UK based but UPS and USPS are Union, whereas Fedex is private. I have found USPS to be the best for domestic some shipments, and anything large (guitar/amp/cab/studio rack gear) UPS is the best. Fedex is always the most expensive (see private) and aren't worth the extra exp...

Re: Best of 2023

I'm pretty isolated from new music, it seems. But 2023 is the year that I discovered Louis Cole and all his stuff - Clown Core (that's where it started), Knower, etc. he is a very skilled drummer. Absolutely, but there's a whole ecosystem going there with a lot of interesting stuff. I'm really enjo...

Re: Tell us about your 2023 wrap-up

I'd much rather be at home with my wife and our cat. Same. We have very little desire to go out and see shows any more, I think we maybe saw one show all last year, and we left early. Anyway I haven't added anything up yet, but I'm pretty sure last year was my best ever, if not it was very close, a...

Re: amps vs. simulators

i get that your world is different and i agree in your genres and other Loud genres my argument holds no weight. But for pop, classic rock, country, folk, bluegrass, jazz, soul music, rap/hip hop, latin, worldbeat, the other 90% of music where people don't play with cranked amps, and any venue proba...
