Hey Chris! At the beginning of the year..... absolutely loving it here. I was working out of Dave Harris' room for a few months, but with both of us being pretty busy that was tough having two guys work out of one room, so I have my own place set up now. I've only had one attended session the entire...

Re: Problem with bounce and CD-R burn - low volume levels.
Speaking from a mastering engineer's point of view, your mix levels are absolutly perfect - don't change a thing. Now, *after* you've bounced the mixes.. you have a couple choices: 1) the home mastering route, or 2) take it to a mastering guy. If you go with option #1, I would suggest the waves mast...

FS: Ampex 499 2" - $100/roll
I have three rolls of Ampex 499 2" x 2500'. They each have been used once in a session and are approximately 5 years old. They have been stored in a climate controlled room. There are no edits or leader in the tape. The boxes have been marked up with information, and the tapes will have to be bulked...

Re: Xserve?
I use an xserve for my web and ftp hosting here at the studio - it's loud, but not horrible loud. I keep all my machines in a machine closet. For my audio work I use an IBM Netfinity server running Win XP (I use Wavelab for CD editing and unfortunately it's PC only)... compared to the IBM (which sou...

Re: New Age for Mastering Music
Never fear, mastering enginner, you still have a job. Wow... for a minute there I was worried. I can remember when the finalizer came out - everyone was asking me "are you worried"... how many years ago was that? This could be an ok plug.. but the way they are marketing it is laughable - qui...

Re: i want to master something for someone for free
Plugs are a good start... but to really get the job done you need some good outboard and converters.
And as our friend pointed out: monitoring, monitoring, monitoring ....
