telefunken V76 mic pres

Any opinions on these? They are going for almost $3,000 for a pair on ebay and we had someone offer us a pair for about half that.

What kinds of distortion pedals do you like?

I'm looking to get a new distortion pedal and would like some opinions on pedals you have used. So far I've mostly been looking at different Boss models, the Marshall Bluesbreaker, and Big Muff. Mostly for straight up rock type music. Not metal.

I have found the song in question since posting it and it is "The Birds and The Bees" by Patrick and Eugene. And the Nick Drake song they used a few years back was "Pink Moon" which is the first time I had ever heard of him and now he is one of my musical hero's. I don't remember ever seeing the com...

who sings the song in VW Rabbit commercial?

Does anyone know? It kind of has a Ween vibe to it. Sounds like Gener's voice.

no, he goes by Average Homeboy. It's a middle class white dude with one of the worst videos ever made. before he goes into his video he sits in front of the camera and gives all of his disclaimers that it's only a demo and he's still working on it and whatnot. The video is about 1/4 the quality of p...

Well I don't know if I'd go so far as to call it a good song, but Picture or whatever it's called by Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow is my nominee. The song is so so. I can listen to it once every couple weeks if I hear it on the radio. I hate that goddamn guitar solo. It does not even come close to fittin...

This will be unpopular, but I think it's all about the venue choice. Rock clubs and quiet music don't mix well and it's a little arrogant to think you can overcome that--if you can, cool, if you can't don't complain. I saw the Cowboy Junkies years ago (not a fan, but I could get in free) and they w...

Re: thank you Jeff Tweedy/rude audiences

This is the same thing that happened at the Lincoln, NE show. Which one were you at? I just thought the people in Lincoln were jerks. Ian Yeah, that's the concert I was at too, in Lincoln. I realize there is going to be talking here and there at any concert, but it's pretty out of hand when people ...

I am one of those "younger folk." I sitll have a few years til I hit the 30 mark and I've been pissed off for the last 5 or 6 years at nearly every concert I have been to. Unfortunately the music I'm into is very mellow and somber like Jeff Tweedy, Iron and Wine, etc., and I think I live in an area ...

thank you Jeff Tweedy/rude audiences

I went to a solo Jeff Tweedy show last night, and as with every concert I go to these days, there were way too many people talking throughout the show. A few songs into his set he got about ten seconds into his song and stopped to pose the question: Why the fuck do people pay good money to come to a...

Even better than the fact that they have songs in commercials is the fact that they were hired to write a song for a frigging Muppets movie. "Eye To The Sky" is a fantastic song written for that Muppet movie where Gonzo was in space or something to that effect. Haven't seen the movie so I don't know...

Re: Buddy Miller will kick your ass.

I saw him almost exactly a month ago with the Sweet Harmonies Traveling Review and was blown away. The first time I ever heard him (or heard of him for that matter) was on that Austin City Limits mentioned above. He is a fucking monster. As is David Rawlings who was also a part of the SHTR tour. Man...

I saw the Red Elvises last night

Goddamn those dudes are funny. Good music too. I love the giant triangle-shaped bass. I've always read that they are great live but had never seen them til last night. Great show.
