RME ADI-8 DS Mk iii Review

Yes, the Mk iii has been out for a couple of years, but it's still a valid piece of gear.

and both are great sounding mics.

Once we got to the digital domain and no longer had to deal with HF loss on analog tape, some of those more aggressive mics and EQ curves are no longer needed.

Maybe the extra $ was for the time spent cleaning? Maybe the TLM 170 capsule is more expensive than the U 89 i. "Told him" It sounds like Land Audio was a "middle man." Maybe Land Audio marked the transaction up, taking a cut for their service. I sent my U 89 i directly to Sennheiser. Regards, Ty Ford

There are two potential problems. 1. Something has cause static to corrupt the audio and every time you play a tape you'll hear a click at exactly the same moment. The discharge is embedded in the tape itself. 2. Something is causing static to discharge and as soon as the charge builds up high enoug...

Hmm, I feel like static discharge is exactly what's happening here and yes, unfortunately it is on the tape -- the idea that it might not have been was definitely a bonehead move while recording and wishful thinking since then...does anyone have any experience removing such static charge from tape?...

Static discharge is possible.

Also, roll the tape and note exactly where the ticks happen. Then rewind and try again to see if the ticks are in the same places. If they are, it's on the tape.

Pretty good, actually. They will tell you some stuff about your space that you weren't aware of, as they did me. In my case a low end quirk in the room that I sort of knew about and had accommodated with my JBL L100 and Hafler P4000. It took a little while for my brain to adjust, but now it's all go...

I've got a 702t, and it has great sounding preamps and ad/da. I'm not sure if it was built intuitively, but it sounds good. :) THE 702T is an excellent piece of gear. I had a 744T, but sold it when I got the 664. I think, given the complexity of the job the 664 is doing they did a very good job in ...
